We recently spent five days in Orkney and stayed at this great B&B. It's situated pretty much halfway between Stromness and Kirkwall, overlooking Scapa Flow to the South. As such it was a perfect base to explore the amazing historic sites on the islands, such as Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar and Maeshowe. It's also a short drive to the Houton ferry which takes you to the excellent Scapa Flow museum.||Kirkwall is only a 15min drive and has a good choice of restaurants for evening meals.||So, it ticks all the boxes for practicality, but the best thing about it is getting to meet Margaret and Raymond who are perfect hosts. Just be warned that the breakfasts are fabulous and plentiful. You'll be well set up for the rest of the day. ||Go to the very good Orkney.com website for details. Spent a week with the loveliest hosts Margaret and Raymond, who accommodated us for last minute break after we reached out on Facebook.|We stayed in one of three upstairs self catering flats, the flat was spacious and spotlessly clean. It had everything and more that you could possibly need. Kitchen essentials supplied plus loads of extras that you may have left behind, plenty of lovely fluffy white towels in the bathroom. No bath but a good shower.|Our hosts Raymond and Margaret were lovely and very accommodating, supplied us with maps and local information about beaches and how best to get to them. |Fionhaven also does a B&B in rooms which are downstairs.|It's very well situated, all the historical sites not more than a 20 min drive away. Plus the beautiful beaches of course!|We had breakfast on our last day which was superb. Everything cooked to perfection. |We were made to feel very much at home and left feeling like family.|We hope to return in the future.

Foinhaven is one of the best B&B I have been to in a very long time. The place is very warm, welcoming and the owners are fantastic and a real wealth of local knowledge.
The room was lovely and clean complete with good facilities (fast kettle, fridge, TV). the bathroom was well thought out with a decent shower to make it feel more like home.
Margaret's cupcakes were a lovely daily touch that were enjoyed with a lovely cuppa.
The breakfast are varied and full with no corners cut.

I can not recommend this place enough and will be visiting again.

Just back from a 2 night stay. Couldn't fault the accommodation or facilities. Margaret and Raymond are wonderful hosts who manage to make you feel at home in their home. On arrival Raymond made us a cuppa and provided beautiful shortbread straight out the oven. More home baked biscuits left in the room each day. Breakfast is amazing and sets you up for the day. Homemade bread, high quality sausage and bacon with eggs fresh from the hens outside and tomatoes from the garden. Can't wait to return! Thank you Margaret and Raymond xx

Excellent self catering facilities with the most welcoming owners. Nothing is to much. Highly recommend.||Its located between Stromness and kirkwall so fantastic access to the island. Its less than 2 miles from waulkmill bay one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland and highly worth a visit. Beautiful view to wake up too.

I think this must be one of the the friendliest places I have stayed in. The flat we stayed in for self-catering was clean and and tidy with great views. You could watch the sheep, ducks, ponies from the window while you eat your tea. And we ate duck eggs too! And the cooked breakfast was good too with the eggs coming from the farm! This place deserves all of the compliments it can get. Thank you for having us stay. I would highly recommend to any who is looking to stay in Orkney and have some amazing views and very friendly hosts. Its only around a 15 minutes drive from Kirkwall too and I think there is a fairly regular bus service!

I have to say this that this B&B was the best in our trip.
The host , Margaret , was absolutely such kind person that we will never forget this trip!
Everything here was perfect, the house, the view and the breakfast!
It is a pity we had to stay here just 2 nights....
Absolutely very very recommended !

This is a lovely location, quiet and peaceful, and set in beautiful countryside. It's good to have a car which makes anywhere you might want to go on Mainland Orkney easily accessible.
Our hosts Margaret and Raymond were extremely kind and friendly and the apartment was warm, clean and equipped with everything you might need, including a very interesting array of books in the hall. Thoroughly recommended!
