My wife and I hired the Carado campervan over the New Year weekend to get away with the dogs. This is the second time we have hired one of Explore Campervans and both times the Vans have been great.
We did the North Wales coast this time and the west coast of Scotland and inner Hebrides for a week last summer.
The communications were excellent, hand over was seamless with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I would 100% recommend these guys for campervan hire.

Let me start off with - do it! What an experience. Hired a van through Adam
And the team. We originally wanted a smaller van but as I needed an automatic we took the Carado Wayfarer - so glad we did. Having the toilet on board was life changing travel style! Stopping for lunch by a Loch, making a cuppa and a sandwich for lunch. Then a quick bathroom break before setting off - brilliant! Don't be worrying about the emptying of the chemical/ grey waste etc - it's so simple! Once you find a place that has waste points
After 5 mins of driving I never wanted to go back to my little VW polo! So easy to drive - helped by my amazing navigator, aiding with checking width till I got used to it. I worried for weeks that it would be too big - nope! Onboard reversing cameras and excellent vantage point being higher up. Really comfy too- miss my elbow rest!
We travelled the west side of Scotland - changed our route as we went along, as is the beauty of traveling in a van. There are loads of websites you can find for overnight stops.
The setting up of the van at night - easy. Turning on the gas, hooking up the EHU and filling up water- if doing so. 1st night we had to WhatsApp Adam with a couple of questions - he was fabulous at helping us out quickly. By night 2 we were pros!
The only thing I have recommended is maybe a quick 'go to guide' for common first timer users - faults on the Truma display would be helpful.
Read the very inclusive documents on the website - the handy what to pack guide - very useful. You need everything - towels to tea bags to salt and pepper! (apart from kettle). Preparation is everything.
When we picked up the van the leisure battery has no charge so we were very glad we had booked a place with an Electric hook up. If we had been going off grid, we'd have been stuck with gas only. So if I could recommend anything I'd check whether that is the normal - it may affect how you plan your first couple of days.
An amazing way to holiday and fabulous that you can hire such lovely vans- unlimited mileage too is brilliant.
I will most definitely be hiring from the team again!

We hired the Carado Wayfarer 2 Berth Campervan which was perfect for us. The hand over by Stewart was good and informative as this was out first time away in a camper van. The van was easy to drive as an automatic and one less thing to think about.
Had a really enjoyable week away and would highly recommend Explorze as the place to go to hire!!

The service from Explorze Campervan Hire was exceptional. I contacted them in a crisis as the Motorhome we were using for Glastonbury from another provider had a mechanical issue on the day we were due to take it. Adam and Sam were first class and did everything possible to get us on the road that day. Van was modern, great and good value. Thank you for saving our trip to Glastonbury. We will contact you first in the future and can highly recommend.

We had the campervan booked for us as a wedding gift from my mother in law.
Where to start.. probably at the start.
Easy to book and a convenient online booking in system for documentation.
Checking out the van with an in depth explanation of everything to know about the space and driving the van.
Pulling off the van was easy to drive with surprisingly light power steering and a great automatic gearbox. We traveled as much of the south west as we could manage, it never struggled on the hills, the reversing camera was crystal clear and also functioned as a rear view mirror when needed (motorways).
The camper was well lit with good heating and an easy management system just by the door. The sleeping area was comfortable and the views were out of this world (we did pick the parking spaces though). Returning the van was easy and deposit returned promptly.
Great guys and would definitely hire again. Thanks for everything.

Rented a camper from Custom Campers for a 10 day trip to Scotland. The van was absolutely perfect and had everything we needed was super comfortable and convenient. Communication throughout was excellent and made the whole process really easy and picking up/dropping off the van was super easy. Everyone we spoke to was so helpful and friendly we'd definitely recommend for anyone!

I hate camping. Always have. I grew up in a semi rural area with mountains on all sides and I still hated it. So when a mate wanted to have her 40th Birthday Party at a remote campsite in North Wales I was horrified. I wasn't going to go until someone said 'hire a campervan'. I found explorze as I wanted to hire from somewhere mid way between London and Snowdonia. I hired the Hymer Voyager (4 Berth) who we christened Lady Carlotta Van der Camp. She was excellent , I mean just brilliant:
1 - The table stays a table, don't have to make the table a bed. Brilliant
2 - It is spacious admittedly we were only 2 not 4 but there's plenty of room.
3 - The biggest car I've driven is a DS3 so I was bricking it when I picked the van up, but she handles beautifully (the handbrake needs to go DOWN not just down) and after about 15 minutes I felt like I'd driven nothing else my adult life.
4 - My old nemesis the M6 had multiple accidents causing us to be close to 2 hours late (not funny on a very sunny Friday) but Adam was a lesson in calm professionalism and gave a thorough walk around of the van - and I was allowed to leave my car on site for the weekend.
5 - You can cook a good full English on the hobs, which I did. The fridge is a good size for a few days food.
6 - Final and best point. When the roof pops up forming a shape like a cheese wedge there is a lovely king size memory foam mattress which forms a separate bedroom. You can attach a small ladder to access or prove your manliness by lifting yourself in with nothing but arms strength. I used the ladder. It's comfortable, cosy, warm and a little romantic as you can open sections to look out (there is a bug net). It provided a much better nights sleep than I expected, total quality.
Couple of things that may be useful - The Van comes with nothing in it in terms of Crockery, Cutlery etc. In all fairness Explorze website does mention this in one section but in another just says there's no bedding. Thankfully we stopped to buy groceries and being a glutton I bought ice cream for then and there, when I went looking for a spoon we realised the situation, if we'd found this out in North Wales we would have been up the creek - so maybe the confirmation emails could spell this out or it made prominent on the website and remove the confusing one. Also the handover is a lot of information and laminated crib sheet may be of use as I had not heard or misheard where the hook up cable was kept - it's a bit of a secret hidey hole so had to buy one - which is now on ebay.
However these two points are minor, I would not hesitate to book again with Explorze and I will, because thanks to Lady Carlotta van der Camp I am now a fan of camping, who'd of thunk it?
