We recently stayed for 2 weeks in Wisteria Cottage. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a place to relax. It was very clean throughout and we had everything we needed.
The cottages grounds are very wildlife friendly and it's just such a peaceful place to be, set along a quiet side lane within Challacombe - itself a beautiful and quiet village with a fantastic pub and also a village shop.
Challacombe is perfectly located to explore Exmoor, the North Devon coast and further afield inland to gardens such as RHS Rosemor or NT Arlington Court. We easily filled 2 weeks of daily activities without travelling too far.
We chatted with Melanie, the owner, and her son Henry a few times during our stay and you they are both very warm, helpful and friendly. It was a pleasure to meet them.
A wonderful holiday in an idyllic location. Thank you to Melanie and Henry - hope to see you again.

We have just spent 7 nights at the farmhouse as a family of 4 and a niece and her partner. A lovely cottage that sleeps 6. It's a beautiful place to stay. Full of history and character. Very well decorated and plenty of room. Lovely fire in the sitting room which we did use. Kitchen a very good size. Dining room was great for playing games in the evening. Also a washing room with washing machine and tumble dryer. 2 bathrooms upstairs which came in very handy. Very very comfortable beds. Slept amazingly. The grounds are amazing. Lovely flowers and wildlife everywhere. Chickens onsite too. Which my son loved. The owners son Henry was a fantastic help and took my son each morning to help collect eggs. He loved that which was lovely too see. We all enjoyed feeding them too. Mel the owner also took the kids on a history tour of the cottages which we tagged along. Very interesting to hear about the history of the cottages and little stories. Mel made out stay she's such a lovely host. Knows her stuff if you need to know about local attractions or good pubs for food. Plenty of walks surrounding the cottages. Pub 2 mins walk. Would recommend these cottages to anyone. We will definitely be back. Thanks for making out family holiday so special.

A wonderful, peaceful place to stay. Garden cottage has everything you need, including an enclosed, private garden. The location is excellent for seeing all the beauty of Exmoor. Melanie made us feel very welcome, gave us information on the area and lit the wood burner for us daily!We are looking forward to coming again.

what a lovely little break we have just enjoyed at Town tenement cottage in Challacombe. a gorgeous, real Devon country cottage, very pretty, cosy and everything you could possibly want. Mel and John are so kind and helpful. it was gorgeous and welcoming for the dogs too, a really nice safe pretty walk right from the cottage. there are a wonderful supply of books and videos and games, all good for bad weather ! I know.. you cant organize the weather, but some lovely drives and walks so near the cottage, and so many super places in easy reach. altogether a gorgeous restful, relaxing holiday ina fabulous place. In walking distance, there must be the best pub EVER. the Black venus. terrific food and warm welcome. and the village store run by the wonderful Gill and Ian who sell everything, particularly wonderful home cooked take-away suppers.. yummy and terrific value. altogether a great short break, cant wait to go back !

Just had another week in Garden Cottage. We have returned numerous times now. It's like being able to step back in time. So peaceful in the village and a fabulous base to visit beautiful Exmoor. From the dramatic Valley of Rocks, the unexpected sand dunes of Saunton Sands, the fantastic coastal walks. Melanie and John have always made us and our 2 dogs so welcome and given suggestions on places to visit when asked. I love it here, I could stay for a month!

As a family we have stayed several times now at Melanie and John's cottages (our dog thinks it's his second home!) . This time we got to stay in both Wisteria and Garden cottages. The cottages are always very clean and comfortable and Melanie is always so welcoming and keen to make sure we have everything we need. All Set in beautiful peaceful surroundings, with walks from the door and a good pub a few minutes walk away... perfect for us!

Enjoyed a week at the farmhouse in June. Very spacious, ample for our party of 4 and 2 wee dogs. Well stocked and furnished. Charming property amongst just 4 other others in lovely village. Good comms with owner. Ideally situated to explore Exmoor and nearby coastal areas. Would stay here again if re-visit.

Wisteria Cottage is situated in a very peaceful location, the only noise coming from the neighbouring pheasant! The cottage is spacious, very clean and well appointed with good quality utensils and furnishings. It also has a range of games, books and DVDs along with a comprehensive guest information folder. It also benefits from a nice little garden with a picnic table. If like us you have a dog, it’s a bonus.
There’s a nice area behind the cottages which is ideal for the first and last dog walk of the day!
Melanie is a very helpful and friendly hostess and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this accommodation to anyone wishing to holiday in this area but as it’s about a 30 minute drive to the nearest supermarket, do your shopping before checking in!
