I arrived five minutes before the pick up time and waited in the queue to be served by the time I was served it gone over closing time so the system wanted an extra £50 Out Of Hours charge not a good start. The vehicle was very poor standard not the quality I expected With many faults, including the cover for the petrol cap falling off the sign on the back door falling off a hole in the foot well on the driver side that was deep enough to trap your shoe and make it dangerous when changing gear the washer bottle didn’t work although there was water in it Cruise control didn’t work. On return I was told they would speak to the manager about some sort of refund, but obviously never heard anything.
The vehicle only had 24,000 miles on the clock

Everything is great, Lucas was outstanding.
Removed 1 star as you don’t get refund if you return the car early, would be great if refund was done for early return! Hope this gets to someone that can look into as it will be beneficial to customers

A great Company to hire from. Made the process easy and was out the door and driving quickly. The Mercedes they gave me was clean and almost new and the price was really good for such an amazing car. Thank you Europcar Swindon for a great experience.

The left brake light of the van we hired was out when we collected it, so clearly no safety testing required. Had to call the AA out to repair it which delayed our plans by hours. Collection took about 35 minutes as well, even after filling out the online check in to supposedly ‘speed up collection’. Their computer systems seem so slow. Return drop off was convenient though and quick.

On the 21st of May 2024, I began a contract with Europcar and was issued an MG vehicle. On the 27th of May I attempted to start the vehicle with no success. An error was displayed on the dash board stating the key could not be detected by the car. I called the breakdown service as instructed on the vehicle windshield. AA arrived approximately 45 minutes later, changed the batteries in the key fob, and restart the vehicle. The following morning on the 28th of May, the vehicle would not start, and the error code stated the key fob was not being detected by the car. Again, I called the breakdown service. Due to the vehicle not being operational I was forced to call a taxi to take me to an appointment. Unfortunately the taxi was not able to transport me onto the military base because of security restrictions, thus requiring me to walk in the rain from the main gate to the hospital. The morning events caused me to be late to my appointment, but luckily I was fortunate enough to get the treatment I absolutely needed. Several hours later, I again had to walk in the rain to find a taxi company located on the base to take me back to the hotel in Mildenhall. The breakdown of the vehicle that morning caused me incredible stress and anxiety. I have attached the receipts for the charges incurred that day for taxis. Upon my return to the hotel, the receptionist relayed to me that the AA had "fixed" the problem. I was able to start the vehicle and drive back to Gloucester.
On the 31st of May, we were scheduled to drive to Birmingham to visit family. Again the car would not start. I again called the breakdown service for assistance. AA arrived several hours later but this time could not get the vehicle to start. I then called Europcar and requested an exchange vehicle. I was informed that I could not get an exchange vehicle until I returned the initial vehicle that was issued to me. As I stated, this was impossible due to the vehicle not being functional. However, I had to walk to the Europe car location in Gloucester and give a staff member the keys to the vehicle that would not start. According to the staff member, they only had one vehicle available that they could give to me. This vehicle had an issue with the passenger side front door it would not open from the outside. Due to the fact that I am still on holiday and had plans to visit family, I had to accept this vehicle. It was very inconvenient to constantly have to open the door for my passenger before she could get into it.
The original rental vehicle was still parked in the allocated space at the accommodation we were staying at. On several occasions I called Europe car to ask when they were going to move the vehicle, as I now had nowhere to park without having to pay for it. On several occasions, a representative of Europe car came out to the location of the broken down vehicle to assess the situation, which was unresolved to the day that I checked out of the accommodation on the 6th of June. I was called on several occasions to meet the representative at the parking area where the vehicle was located because it was a private car park, and he could not access it without me being there with the key. This caused a considerable loss of time of my holiday. Having to stay at the location waiting on someone to move the vehicle. On the 4th of June, an individual called me to say he needed access to the parking area to assess the space, as a tow truck would not fit in the lot. Again, I was forced to be there to wait for this individual to arrive. To add to that the owners of the accommodation are now threatening to charge us for the vehicle being in the parking space.

Total rip off.

The petrol cap was broken and wouldn’t open. Had to drop the car early, late at night, as we were running out of fuel and couldn’t fill up the next morning. Had to get a taxi home. Called and emailed to explain, still during my rental period. Got an email days later which just said the petrol cap was fine. Our problem. It most definitely wasn’t fine. No other explanation provided.

Then got charged a massive fee for the fuel - and they totally ignored my taxis costs.

Then informed that we had a speeding ticket. Fair enough. We need to pay. Except, they charged me £40 for the privilege of telling me that I would be getting a speeding ticket.

Should change the name to Europshaft

Second time I’ve used them after getting charged excess mileage that I didn’t do it took 4 months to resolve. Today after hiring a van in October I get a surprise invoice stating I had a van 8 days (when it was 3) plus late return and more mileage charges that I didn’t do. Another mess to sort out
