Our room was very dated and tired, carpets were well past their best. The toilet flush really needed sorting out. This room was in desperate need of a refurbishment. It could be so so much better. Breakfast in the Moldy Fig was fine no issues.

We attended the Concorde Club for the dinner/concert evening featuring T'Pau. As it was a present for my 60th birthday we also elected to stay the night in the Lodge. The room we were allocated was very old and tired (we were later told it is due for refurbishment) which was disappointing as we had booked very early. We found out early that the toilet did not flush so reported this to reception who knew straightaway the room we were referring to and said that during the evening someone would visit the room to fix it. She said she could not offer us another room as they were choc a bloc. We went to the restaurant/concert area and whilst we enjoyed the music we found the food average and the dining area very crowded. We arrived back at our room near to midnight to find the toilet still did not flush. We reported it to the gentleman behind the desk who to be honest was uninterested and rude asking 'what do you expect me to do about it'. We insisted he find someone to help and he reluctantly found someone from the restaurant who said did we want another room - we explained we had already been told they were crowded. He had no other suggestion to make so we made the decision to taxi home (as we live fairly local) as we did not want a tired old room with a broken loo. When we visited the next day to collect our car we asked to see the manager to at least get a refund for the room and breakfast we hadn't had. The manager offered us a room for another concert but as we had no plans to visit again (as well as having been put off by the rather rude night receptionist) said we would rather a refund. She was very apologetic and even hugged me as an apology. However when I rang after the weekend to see if a refund was forthcoming I was told the toilet had been checked and worked fine 'if you knew how to work it' and that if we accepted the offer of another night we'd be put in one of the nice refurbished rooms. The manager who had been so nice and apologetic on the Friday was now unsympathetic and even challenged the fact we had used the toilet or tried to flush it, in effect calling me and my husband liars. The lady then ended the call after saying she would call us back. |To this date no one has called us back to resolve the issue. Needless to say we won't be visiting again.

Warning female travellers - this hotel does not respect your privacy and security. I stayed recently with my dog. The sound proofing is terrible and so, after I'd gone to bed at around 11.30pm, my dog barked when people were later talking in the corridor outside our room. There was a complaint to reception (and I apologise to anyone that was disturbed - although, I didn't complain about the noise in the corridor!) but instead of a simple phone call to my room, the security guard and hotel director - both male - used the master key to let themselves in without my consent. ||I never answer my hotel door without notification from reception or it being something I've ordered โ€“ a safety precaution I strongly advocate. To me, the fact that hotel staff felt entitled to bypass this basic boundary so quickly and easily is absolutely appalling.||Despite my formal complaint, senior hotel staff seemingly fail to grasp the severity of their actions. The director repeatedly rebutted the obvious fact that a simple phone call to the room would have been professional, respectful, and would have avoided causing all of this distress. ||Instead, their actions left me feeling vulnerable and unsafe in the hotel. I even considered sleeping in my car as a better option - especially when someone's snoring kept me awake all night (which I also didn't complain about)!||The hotel director's dismissive response and subsequent emails demonstrate a profound lack of understanding around the security concerns felt by female travellers. I would not recommend anywhere that doesn't respect the basic security and privacy rights of its guests. Female travellers, please consider this experience carefully before booking.

We checked in after attending an afternoon gig at the concord club. Check in was easy and very friendly.|Our room was very tired, the towels and bedlinen were spotless |The carpet and cushions were dingy and it felt dark and in need of a refresh.|The tea and coffee were enjoyed |The amount of shampoo and shower gel left was laughable I have never seen such a small bottle and it seemed really tight. I have left a photo next to a milk container for scale.|We decided not to stay overnight so left and drove home. I guess it is a bed for the night but donโ€™t expect too much and maybe take your own toiletries |I

Very tired and dated - |Which is shame as it is in a lovely setting and is convenient for the Concorde Club and the Moldy Fig - (Which is also very tired and dated).|I have stayed here a few times - and I don't remember it being this poor.||I can see by other reviews that there may be rooms that have been refurbished recently to a good standard - our room had not been.|It was very worn out room.|The bathroom was in need of a full refurb - the mirror light did not work, chrome flaking off of the bath hand rails, shower head very lose almost falling off the wall.|Safe didnt work.|Air Con didn't work - judging by other reviews, this has been the case for some time - although room is sold as with A/C.|TV remote only worked to change the channel and the volume - had to get out of bed to turn it off at the wall.|Room key stopped working.|Put a bag on top of the wardrobe for storage - when I pulled it back down to pack, I got a face full of dust and the bag's base was covered in dust - Clearly not been dusted up there any time recently.||Staff were polite at check in, but when there was more than one person there, they were too busy chatting together to even ackowledge guests with a 'hello' or a 'good morning' - could be a lot more professional to make guests feel appeciated.|Perhaps a hospitality course would be beneficial.||Could be so much better - They need to spend money to bring the standard back up to average or good.||A couple of Pro's - Good free parking, free wi-fi access and convenient for the Concord Club.

We stayed overnight at Ellington Lodge as we went to an 80s night at the Concorde Club. ||The hotel is a bit dated but very clean. Our room lacked plug sockets, there were two sockets, one was taken up by the TV. Not convenient for charging mobile phones but not the end of the world. The curtains are next to useless, ours covered the window but without any lining it was no darker having them shut over being open.||The bathroom was spotless and the shower pressure was very good. ||Breakfast is in another building and is very good quality. We were pre-warned by others that have stayed before that one of the ladies that serves breakfast is grumpy. She didn't disappoint. Not rude just someone that doesn't enjoy her job. It was actually comical and I hope she's still there next time we stay. ||Don't stay expecting anything other than somewhere clean to stay and you won't go wrong. ||We will be back though!
