First time in Edinburgh and, as a way of getting around, decided to purchase a 7 day pass (unlimited for tram and bus). The cost is £24.50 for adults + £3.00 for the card. They take your picture right there and can be reloaded. We are staying in Leith on Ocean drive and it is very convenient. Just don’t forget to scan your card on the platform BEFORE you get on. £10.00 fine if you don’t. Definitely recommend this if you’re only here for 5-7 days. Unlimited!

When we visited in 2015, the trams were a fairly new things. Chats with locals suggested they were not widely approved of, but we found them miraculous. We were able to take them from the airport to right downtown where we needed to be without having to worry about cabs, buses or anything. We also used them to head out to the Balgreen station for a walk down the Leith. They were clean, quiet, safe, and seemed to run on schedule.

A reliable, affordable (approximately £2-£3 per person), and efficient method of transportation. Every tram I utilized was clean and easy to use. You can walk to the tram station and purchase a ticket to your destination utilizing one of the many kiosks. The kiosk was easy to use and there seems to be a tram available every five minutes or sooner. Will utilize again.

Easiest way to get from the airport to downtown Edinburgh. Cost for a return ticket to and from the airport is about £9.50 ($13). The trip takes just under 30 minutes. The trams are modern and quiet. They DO check tickets. Machines at tram stops and the airport take Cards and coins (British). Trams run about every 7 minutes. If you want to visit the Royal Yacht ”Britannia”, the tram takes you there, about 20 minutes from downtown. Cost about £4.50 ($6) for a return ticket. A no brainer to use.

Good value for money. £9 return trip. £7.5 single way. Guaranteed travel time to airport which I always prioritise. There are quite a lot of stops so you can always find one that is close to you.
Please make sure you put up your suitcase in the rack. You will be asked to do so if not for the safety.
