In August of 2024 I had a major failure of my DSG Gearbox on my 2017 VW Golf R. The hydraulic stop/start motor of my car broke away and wrecked the gearbox and casing (the big hole in the pictures) – just very bad luck! After doing some detailed research online I found Eco-Torque in Arlesey Bedfordshire who specialise in these type of gearbox repairs.

I had a chat to Dan on the phone who was really polite and extremely knowledgeable. He gave me the confidence that he knew exactly what to do to get me back on the road. I subsequently got my car picked up from North London by a recovery lorry and made it up to Eco-Torque’s workshop and left it in their capable hands. Eco-Torque were also kind enough to lend me a car for the duration of the repairs which took a few weeks while waiting for parts that needed to be ordered.

Once Dan and his team had removed the gearbox and had given it a thorough tear down, he came back with reasonable costs (all things considered) which I agreed to over the phone. I ended up getting a new gearbox case, reconditioned transmission, new clutch, new hydraulic start/stop motor and new internal filters. I’ve had the car back now for about a month and it’s thankfully driving as it should and everything is running smoothly again 🙏🏼. I also have peace of mind with a year’s warranty from Eco-Torque.

From dropping off my car, being kept in the loop with progress (email and phone) and picking up my car, I’ve been really impressed with the professional service from Dan and his team. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Eco-Torque if you have any issues with your gearbox. However big or small the problem, I’m sure Eco-Torque can get you back on the road too – top guys who know their stuff!

The DSG gearbox in my sons 2013 VW Golf TSI started skipping gears at 125,000 miles.
I called and sent emails to many gearbox specialists, and in the end, I chose Eco Torque. Having talked to them over the phone, they were able to give me an indication of what the root cause was likely to be and a ballpark cost for repair. Though they were not the cheapest (or most expensive), their knowledge of the DSG gearbox and positive reviews made it an easy decision.
I drove 40 miles to drop off the car and was given a courtesy car to use. As they were busy, it took a few days before they could get the car on the ramp. A few days later, I received a phone call to say that the issue had been identified as a broken gear selector lever. The repair itself only took a day. Whilst the gearbox was out, they also replaced the clutch pack as it made sense to do so at this mileage.
The price paid was the price quoted.

I used Eco Torque when my Skoda Octavia developed issues with the gearbox bearings. The service I received was outstanding. They were very polite, helpful and efficient.
They really know their stuff and managed to diagnose and fix the problem promptly. The car now runs like new.
Any clutch or gearbox issues, look no further, these guys are great.

The guys at Eco Torque are fantastic. Incredibly helpful, professional and polite throughout. Helped diagnose and then change the Dual Mass Flywheel on my DSG Audi and it has transformed it - it feels like a new car. Brilliant job. I can't recommend them enough.

Wish there was more stars to give this company as they went above and beyond in getting our work van back on the road after the clutch had failed.
Daniel and the team were helpful from the moment we phoned them and this company still has the ability to show concern for our interests. I will be recommending to anyone who tells me they have clutch or gearbox issues. We recieved a list back from ecotorque of problems they found as they worked on the van and showed concern to get them checked out. We have had a clutch done before from a different company and now we have had it done properly the clutch has never felt better and feels brand new again, a feeling we haven't had since the previous clutch went.

Daniel and the team worked wonders with my 2015 Audi A6, it had developed a intermintant fault where it wouldnt start due to not sensing if it was in park or neutral. Thursday I spoke with Daniel about the issue and straight away i felt confident they had the experience and knowledge so left the car with them. I recieved a call later that day with diognostic and price, it needed a new Sensor for Drive Position so proceeded with work. Monday they called to say car was ready, happy days!
