I arrived at the station at 1640 on Friday 14th March to find the waiting room closed/locked. The notice on the door stated that it was open until 1700 on a Friday. I had to stand outside in the bitterly cold wind (no shelter at all).
The station office was also closed, despite supposedly being open until 1715.
What’s your excuse?

I am on Eaglescliffe station on Monday 11th March 2024. I am appalled that the new waiting room that tax payers have paid for o not available on this freezing cold day.
WHY
Possibly because the cleaning staff don’t want people in ?!!
As a result we are all freezing.
There are elderly people
Disabled people
Babies
Stood outside
I am really disappointed and confused as to why this should happen

Fairly frequent trains, including services to London. Platforms accessed via bridge with ramps but no lifts. Modern stylish, even stunning enclosed waiting room but only open when the ticket office is also, which basically means it's shut a lot of the time. Taxi office and car park adjacent to southbound platform with a flat charge rate of £3 per day or £10 per week, but payment using coins or by phone only.

Scenic station. No lifts. Waiting room ( at last ). Car Park. Handy minicab office bang outside the station. Do visit the very nearby bistro at Station Five, and The Locomotion pub.

I have MS - ambulant, but with balance issues and unsteady walking.

I arrived from KX to Eaglescliffe on Thursday 18 January afternoon. A lot of snow had fallen. The train guard before given the arrival announcement, said to us he was surprised that the platform hadn’t been gritted as there had been considerable snow fall.

As I walked through the slippery snow and met my friend who was collecting me, we I looked and were shocked to see that the steep incline walk-way, Bridge, and decline walk way had not been cleared or at least gritted. The walk ways were lethal, almost making it impossible to leave the station.

I enquired of the men in the ticket office as to why it was’nt gritted, their reply was “it wasn’t their responsibility but the company thar has just gone bust”. Surely station health & safety wasn’t being adhered to that British Rail would have been liable if there had been a serious fall.

I’m concerned about my return journey from Eaglescliffe and would like to know whether the walkways have been treated and the platform, for safety,

If you can email me that would be reassuring.

R Bertie

The waiting room is never open and so its always a chilly wait for the next train. I dont see why it can't just be open so people can be comfortable when waiting for their train

I was at the station
Late a night
A train from Manchester was going late
So I changed at thornaby
And ended up here
To catch the late grand Central
To Hartlepool dear
The platform was misty
The train was late
The drunks were on board
But I felt great
My eaglescliffe experience
Was short and sweet
The platform huge
For my tired feet
Late drama to say
At the end of the day
And that was my tale
Of Eaglescliffe.
