Strongly advise not to buy property in Durham county and north of England poor returns and poor workmanship from workers , especially at Auction and especially old terraces that have mining problems. If not careful you losing thousands. The council is a grabbing money machine charging high council tax for almost nothing as I don’t reside there, bombarding you with letters every year to renew your “so called discount” for your council Tax , I bought a property at Auction Nov 2022 . Paid council tax worth 7500£ as I finally manage to sell August 2025 at a loss yes I was inexperienced but wow everything was a rip off and needed doing also very far from me . Buy local even if takes longer .

Rip off merchants. So yet again council tax has risen by almost 6% this year. How are people on 1 minimum wage supposed to be able to afford this rip off? A very cold uncaring council. They can afford to post recent circulars twice to all Durham residents which is of no interest to the public and a complete waste of funds. Stop crying the poor tale as you don't spend peoples money wisely.

Just received a warning letter off them for accidently stopping on a yellow box junction at Neville's Cross bank. This was after the lights had gone green my exit was blocked by cars coming from the left. They should not have cameras up there. Absolutely evil gits.

Stop obsessing over flags and swallow up Darlington Borough Council,as they can't be trusted to mark their own homework.......or anything else for that matter.

Disgraceful Council to deal with. The most outdated unrealistic policies. Forcing a council tax bill on a property I had no access to all because the tenant lied and said they moved out. I have all the evidence required to confirm this but they are unwilling to do anything because there process states ‘always take the tenants word for when they say moved out’

Well not sure where to start. I applied for a blue badge for my 87year old mother, who cannot walk above 5 minutes without stopping, she has poor eyesight, walks with a walking stick has two false knees and hips, and surprise she does not meet the criteria!!! Do you have to be dead before the criteria is meet. What a joke! I have witnessed on many occasions people with blue badges running and skipping.
I wonder if they happen to have a family member working in the blue badge section. Moving forward I will be suppling further evidence to back the application. Hope the person who made the decision can sleep at night.

Got to one of the worst councils in England. Refusing to empty the bins incase one of there daft bin men get dirty nails.. pathetic. Saying there is a risk of contamination from washed plastics in a recycle bin but then they empty the general waste bin no problem when there is 100x risk of contamination due to food waste etc... utter waste of tax payers money. Why have bin men turned into fairies these days.
