Bit of a slog up the hill, castle is a ruin, but the views on a clear day are very good.
Watch out for rabbit burrows, you could easily trip or twist your ankle.

I love this place. I've been up a few times now but my favourite was recently, at sunset. It's a great location for photos and it's easy to get too, with parking at the bottom of the hill. It's a very steep hill but it's short, only being 0.5km to the top. My three year old daughter managed to get up herself so I'd say it's suitable for most people. The castle ruins are lovely, but it's the views that make this place so special.

There is not a lot left of Dunnideer Fort, mainly just one wall and some foundations, but this ruin still dominates the surrounding courtyside. For us the main attraction was the steepish walk up from Western Road, and then the views towards Insch. The signpost to the start of the path is small and can be easily missed, parking is on the side of the road.

Quite a steep walk up the the top of the hill, beautiful views from the top makes it worthwhile.
A bit of a ruin and small ramparts can be found.
Looking beyond the castle generally west you will see a large recumbant stone in the distance.
Very atmospheric.

Very easy short walk. It has views extending over the hills. There is a bench at the top so you can relax whilst up there.
There are multiple ways you can walk up, one way is steep and the other more of a gradual climb. It really isn't difficult at all though.
The only downside is that it does get busy, to say we went up at 6am we still saw about six different people.
