Dave was an awesome and informative guide for our tour of Lewis. We visited numerous important archaeological sites, learning facts and theories about how and why various structures were built. Lewis has numerous sites to visit. We also enjoyed beautiful beaches along the way. We highly recommend Dave for any tour of Harris/Lewis!!!

We had a four hour tour with Dave at the beginning of our stay on Lewis which was really helpful. Dave was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of insights into the neolithic landscape and provided us with facts and information about the sites he took us to. A great tour tailored to our interests.

Dave took us on two tours round Lewis, looking mainly at the Neolithic monuments, but also other historical sites. The experience could not have been better. Dave is abreast of all the recent archaeological developments on the island and can relate them to those elsewhere. He provides excellent explanations of prehistoric sites in their landscape context, even down to the placing and purpose of individual stones. Alongside this he gave us some fascinating insights into the history and current life of the island, as he drove us expertly from one site to the next. Thoroughly recommended!

We booked a full day tour with Dave on our Outer Hebrides holiday as a Neolithic nerdy birthday treat and had a fantastic time exploring both the well known sites and places that you could never find on your own. Dave picked us up from Maggie's B&B (Westend B&B) and we spent the day being shown how the many sites fitted into the landscape. Dave was not only extremely knowledgeable about the archeology, but also about more recent history and culture on the islands. Highly recommended. We would do it again as there is so much to see. In the evening after the tour we ate lobster at Doune Braes Hotel having pre-ordered a birthday supper the night before. Our holiday was booked through Hopscotch who arranged a wonderful selection of places to stay as we travelled from north to south and booked all the ferries. We'll be coming back to the Hebrides!

A great time spent with Dave who was a mine of information on all things archaeological. We learned how to read the stone circles - first find the viewing stone - and their relationship to the landscape and beliefs of those who built them. The Norse Mill was another favourite - such simple but effective engineering. A few hours with Dave gave us a wider understanding of history from Neolithic times - including to the present day - and a sense of a beautiful place and space. Many thanks Dave

I plucked Dave’s tour off the internet and having read the reviews and spoken to him over the phone, similarly to what you having read this will do, no doubt and he exceeded our expectations of what a tour round the Isle of Lewis would include. Prompt, courteous, polite, extremely well informed and knowledgeable, friendly and spell binding would only offer a small choice selection of Dave’s tour guide personality. Five stars ⭐️ and if you really are interested in the local history don’t hesitate and book Dave. Thank you

Dave was very knowledgeable and experienced in archaeology. We learned a great deal and will look at Neolithic sites with greater understanding in the future. It was great to do a tour at the start of our stay on Lewis so we could build on it and be guided about how to structure the rest of our time. Thank you Dave!

Fascinating tour of the Island! Although we had seen some of the sites before, we got a whole new angle on them from this tour, and learned a wealth of new information that you don't get from reading the signs (when those are even available-- a surprising number of sites in the area aren't even marked and we wouldn't have known they were there had Dave not brought us to them). We learned more from that 4 hour tour than we had from 4 days wandering around on our own, so I'd highly recommend doing this if you're interested in the history of Harris and Lewis!
