This tour, museum and memorial is not to be missed, whether you’re a longtime Scottish history buff, an Outlander fan or just a garden variety tourist. This is the final resting place of ~1,500 Jacobite and 50 Government soldiers who fought and died here in 1746. The museum is wonderfully conceived and executed, you can explore the government or rebel view of the events leading up to the conflict throughout the museum, and then walk the lines of each. The guided tour of the battlefield is about 45 minutes. Regardless of whose “side” you are on, it all feels tragic and sad.

Absolutely Amazing!! The museum is nicely set up to take a visitor from start to finish in the battle. They also have a really cool digital live action map of the battle in play. The battle field itself is nicely maintained and the staff is super helpful.

Spent an interesting few hours looking around the museum and walking the battlefield. The museum is excellent with a great explanation of the Jacobite uprising and the events leading up to and after the battle. The battlefield experience gave a good feel what it must have been like at the battle from both sides. The battlefield itself has well defined paths with good interpretation boards. The staff were friendly and helpful despite there being a power cut which temporarily affected the museum and cafe. If you are a National Trust members you can get in free and also benefit from free parking.

There is a large parking lot where you can park for a small fee. Go into the visitor center first. There are bathrooms as well. I highly recommend to take the museum along with the battlefield tour. Our guide was absolutely fantastic and you get a lot more out of your visit walking the battlefield with a guide! Absolutely worth it. For outlander fans, the “Fraser” clan grave spot is the one with the wires around next to the small monument in the middle between the front lines. The tour is about 45 minutes and starts every hour.

Really interesting and sobering place. Some of the tour groups though were really annoying, just literally standing and gathering infront of the information boards so people like myself can't read them until they have left! Just utter rudeness!

Not an outlander fan, I just went because I like history. Our guide (Iona) was superb, they knew a whole lot about the place and waited for me and my elderly mother in each part of the tour. The museum is gorgeous if you're into antiques, and there were explanations on the warfare methods of the armies and the implications they had. It is worth well over twice the price they charge: I'd recommend seizing up the opportunity. When my mother felt she couldn't walk anymore (the path isn't particularly difficult but it is obviously uneven) the staff gave us a wheelchair and we managed to visit the whole place. They even had ramps to get her to the roof to take pictures and look at the battlefield and some coos! Don't miss this if you're in Inverness.
