Unfortunately I overlooked the balance due date and tried to call the office as advised by Cruise Kingdom’s email but advise the office is closed for already booked holidays!! Tried again on the book a new holiday for 11 minutes but no idea where you are in the queue.
I too are unhappy to pay the balance by bank transfer although I acknowledge the company’s reply to same concern although it is the T&C’s it wasn’t explained before I paid the deposits

Dreadful experience with Cruise Kingdom…

A friend and I had a dreadful experience with Cruise Kingdom on a recent cruise around to Japan - so bad that, on our return in April, we immediately cancelled our next cruise booked with them from Hawaii to French Polynesia in October giving almost 6 months notice. Despite my complaints about the stress and discomfort caused by their mismanagement to two people in their mid 80s - the reason for cancelling the next holiday - I have received no apology or explanation for their failures and no refund of the £3000 deposit we each paid for the next cruise.
How can they treat customers with such disdain and be allowed to get away with it?

At our age these 2 cruises were meant to be ''holidays of a lifetime' and probably the last long haul trips we would manage. As 'solo travellers' they were not cheap - over £8000 for Japan and almost £10,000 for Hawaii and Polynesia before the inevitable extras for excursions etc.

Final details for our Japan trip arrived 2 weeks before take off and I immediately realised there was a problem. The return flight had been brought forward by almost an hour so reaching Haneda airport, where we landed, was going to be difficult. I checked disembarkation times at Yokohama with Celebrity and there was indeed a problem.

I phoned Cruise Kingdom to explain the issue only to discover that the return flight was NOT from Haneda but from Narita airport - over an hour further from Yokohama. There was NO POSSIBILITY of catching that flight and no one at Cruise Kingdom had picked this up. Narita was not mentioned anywhere in the details. Had I not checked we would have gone to the wrong airport and missed the flight with substantial costs and massive inconvenience involved in getting home.

They called back later saying they could book a flight the following day and arrange a hotel in Yokohama but that we would have to pay an additional £228 each. I had to explain that Narita was over 2 hours from Yokohama and we had to check in for our flight at 0730.They finally booked a hotel at Narita and we were so stressed that we just accepted rather than lose our holiday.
When we arrived at the hotel at around 11am on that final day (the flight left at 1020) we were told that we could not get into our rooms until 4pm. There were no facilities apart from a breakfast room with wooden chairs and tables - impossible for an 84 and 85 year old to spend time there. We had no choice but to go to the airport, have a drink, find somewhere a little more comfortable to sit and discover which of the 3 terminals our flight was departing from! Again no mention of this in the revised details.
It was all very stressful, uncomfortable and upsetting not helped in that initial call by discovering that there were no transfers included - the first time either of us had not had transfers on any major holiday. Booking taxis from the UK was another stress factor at our age costing over £400. The 3* hotel in Tokyo before the cruise was also not what we expected with no facilities other than a breakfast room.
Since returning I have phoned and written on numerous occasions quoting their own Ts & Cs where necessary but there has been no apology, explanation or refund of either the £228 or our deposit. The hotel at Narita is quoted at around £50 a night - but again no word from them as to why we had to pay £228 or indeed anything as it was their mistake.
It is now clear that they have no intention of doing the honourable thing, accepting their failings and offering us the necessary refunds.

Trying to get air passenger repaid as we did not fly due to hospitalisation. Travel insurance does not cover this cost .
Unable to get through to aftersales. Maybe they’ll pick up this bad review and take some action.

Thought it was a good idea until came to pay balance & can only be done by direct transfer? No credit card so no protection if you pay direct from an account and we do not have that facility that we want to use, happy to pay a charge for credit card albeit it is not allowed, paying by card give us a bit more protection.Up to this point very satisfied, not new to booking cruises always paid by card for protection.
