The Hurtegruten classic 12 day cruise from Bergen and back to Bergen is definitely the happiest, most comfortable, rewarding and interesting cruise I have been on. In fact I have done the same cruise twice and may well do it again. The cabins are comfortable, the food is excellent and the staff could not be friendlier or more professional.

Travelled on Nordlys.....definitely not a cruise, so don't expect that (do your research!) but we had a great time. If you can afford it, do a platinum upgrade. This gives you a clothing package, free excursions, early access to your cabin etc, but best of all you can dine in Kysten restaurant every night - and the food was fantastic! Cannot stress how good the food was in this restaurant, and we were so well looked after by Nicholas and Alexandra - we never looked at a menu, but let them decide what to serve us and it was always fantastic!!
Platinum upgrade also meant a reserved window seat in Torget restaurant for breakfast and lunch where we were served by Kristina - she was a delight - so friendly and eager to help us.

Several years ago no - just after the Icelandic volcano problem which delayed my departure by a few weeks. Everything went smoothly thereafter.
I cannot speak too highly of Hurtigruten and they have apparently got even better in the interim - new ships - bigger buffets. If you have the chance --GO!!

Friendly and informative staff, good food, interesting talks/lectures,
wonderful scenery, relaxing lounges, shore visits available - no pressure
to participate in anything. The midnight concert at Tromso Cathedral
was an uplifting experience when gifted musicians and singers
performed.

Did the full coastal journey from Bergen in 2018 and now planning a second trip in July 2024. Fabulous trip and looking forward to doing it in summer, can’t recommend it enough!
