We entrusted our beautiful seaside home, Sand Cottage in North Berwick, with Coast Properties, when we set off travelling around the world 16 months ago and I have been thrilled by the way director, Gillian, has looked after it for us. Nothing is too much trouble and she and her fantastic team take the utmost care and attention to make sure guests enjoy the highest possible standards, before, during and after their stay. I can't recommend this company enough of you are looking for holiday rentals in East Lothian and Edinburgh.

One of our company's self catering properties is situated in North Berwick and we have always used Julie & Gillian at Coast Properties to manage the flat. The reason we chose to work with them was because our family had visited North Berwick several times for holidays and out of all the agencies they provided by far the best client service. They have replicated this now we are on the other side of the fence - always helpful, friendly, reliable and happy to guide if necessary.
Although we own the flat and they manage it I see it as a partnership that together can provide a great family holiday for anyone wishing to visit. In the last calendar year we have had almost full occupancy - what could be better than that.
If you are looking for a holiday, longer term let or are a landlord looking for an agency I would have no hesitation in recommending Coast properties as the way to go.

Great company to deal with. We stayed at Driftwood cottage in East Linton for a week in August with our 16th month old daughter, my Mum, husband and 2 dogs. There was more than enough space for all of us to spread out and relax. The cottage has been beautifully renovated, and equipped with everything you need for a very relaxing holiday. The village is a perfect size, Crown and Kitchen is a great pub which does good food and is very welcoming. Amenities of the village are excellent for the size of it...... including a good butchers, Co-op, newsagents, post office, deli, another good pub, park and children's playground.
Coast properties were very helpful and efficient. Would definitely book through them again and return to Driftwood.

Firstly I must say the cottage was lovely and in a good position, exactly as described.
But I found coast properties very unhelpful on providing clean linen halfway through our 2 week stay. Having stayed with several holidays rental companies this is standard practice to offer a mid clean and fresh linen, as would be the case if we had booked for 2 separate weeks. We said do not worry about the cottage clean (hence saving them money), but we would like clean linen left and can change the bed ourselves…. Their response was “ we don’t do that, if our website is unclear let us know “! Sure it says linen provided!!! So beware if you are staying 6 months, you have the same sheets!!! The website also does not offer a discount for the lack of use of the clean and fresh linen if you book consecutive weeks
The owner of the cottage was wonderful and told us where we could find some in the cottage, and she would bring more (as she was arriving the day we left) my advice book direct with the owner

Early in 2013 I register my one bedroom flat with Coast Properties. Both Gillian and Julie have, since then, given me 100% occupancy with a combination of long term lets and this year with weekly summer lets for the holiday season.
This has proved more than ideal for me and I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Coast to other owners.
Their presence in the High Street in North Berwick is an added bonus and both Gillian and Julie are there every day of the week to assist with any queries.

This was our first year of renting out our holiday home in North Berwick. Our initial meeting with Gillian from Coast Properties was positive but from there it went downhill. Our experience of the supposedly fully managed service from Coast Properties was terrible.

However we think there are 2 main things that other people considering using Coast Properties should be aware of:

Coast Properties do not take a good housekeeping deposit. We arrived on holiday on the Sunday after the second guests we had had through Coast Properties left, to find a large mark on the wooden floor in one of the bedrooms (the wooden floor had only been laid for 6 months and in 17 years of having wooden floors in our own homes had never seen anything like it) and a number of dark marks on the kitchen worktops. These had only been sanded and re-oiled a few months before. I spoke with Gillian from Coast Properties to advise of this and she contacted the guests to establish what the mark on the floor was and to tell them of the damage to the worktops - they claimed not to know anything about the mark to the floor but said that possibly a swimming costume had been left on the radiator and had dripped onto the floor. It had obviously been left for a long period of time to do the damage that was done, and why in a flat with tiled floors in both bathrooms and a pulley! With regard to the worktops they claimed the only marks could have been left by beer bottles even although the photos were clearly the size of pots or plates. My husband then spent hours trying to get the water stain out of the floor with Oxalic Acid but with little success. I then spoke with Gillian to understand what deposit had been kept only to find there had been none. When I asked that she email the guests to ask them to recompense us for the damage she emailed back with a paragraph from their terms and conditions saying they take no legal action against any damage. So we have been left bearing the cost of the damage in its entirety with no come back against the guests or Coast Properties.

Secondly, you need to closely record the services provided by Coast Properties as we were overcharged for laundry and cleaning services. This came to light when the cleaning company wrongly sent us an invoice and we saw the number of hours Coast Properties had been charged which was far less than we had been charged for.
