I recently went on this river cruise tour, and while it was a decent experience for the price, I felt it could have been much better. One of the positives was that they offer family discount tickets, which makes it more affordable for groups. The inside of the boat was warm and comfortable, which was a nice touch, especially on a chilly day.

However, there were a few drawbacks. The tour itself was extremely short, and there wasn’t much to see from the river, making it feel a bit underwhelming. Given the lack of sights, I think the price should be lower to better reflect the experience. Additionally, during my visit, the tour guide was very quiet and difficult to hear, and the information provided wasn’t particularly engaging or detailed. Another issue was that the table we sat at was broken, which made it a little uncomfortable.

Overall, while it was an okay experience, I believe a longer route, better commentary, and some improvements to the seating would make it much more enjoyable.

Did the cruise after visiting the Minster. Enjoyable relaxing cruise along the River Ouse.
Scot, the captain, was very informative and quite amusing.
We learnt quite alot of the history of the area and buildings. Many thanks 😊

Had the loveliest little cruise with the crew of Scott, Sophia and Allison looking after us. A relaxing time with interesting info presented. Was lucky enough to have the whole lower deck with just us and 2 of the fabulous crew. All of the windows open and a sunny day made for a wonderful hour. Thanks again 😄

We had a lovely cruise with a fish and chip meal. The lady Captain was excellent and her commentary was perfectly delived both in length and volume. She spoke distinctly so everyone could hear the interesting points she was making on our trip up and down the river. Top marks to her, and we had the best weather too, perfect!

What a fab way to view York and learn about it whilst taking in the sights from a different angle.

The captain was polite and courteous and also funny on his narration as we went down the river Ooze.

We enjoyed a lovely 45-minute boat trip on a busy and humid Saturday afternoon in September. The boat was very clean and comfortable, although the seating was a little cramped. The boat has toilets and a bar aboard, and there is seating downstairs as well as up on the top deck. We paid £14 per adult, which we thought was a tad expensive for the trip.
The driver of the boat gave a commentary throughout the trip, which was informative but distracting, and his voice was memorable but not in a good way.
We got to see some lovely sights, which was nice, but I would rather hire a motorboat next time.

My dad and brother flew all the way from Singapore - we decided to visit York on a whim and happened upon the city cruises! The tour was excellent, the scenes were beautiful and Josh was very informative. We’d highly recommend the City Cruises to anyone visiting York!

A fantastic boat tour of York! Despite having visited the city hundreds of times, I've never taken a boat tour. Even though I know York very well, it was a brilliant experience to see the city from a new perspective. The skipper was really knowledgeable and shared many fascinating insights along the journey. It was a very relaxing ride and a love that umbrellas were on hand when we experienced a brief shower! A fantastic experience whether it is your first visit to York or you've grown up in the area - highly recommend!
