A great walking city with some fine buildings… many listed. There is a good balance between preservation of the past alongside the usual High Street shops. You can do a nice canal side walk (25 minutes) into Great Boughton and get the bus back. The city walls are amongst the best examples in the UK with views down to the Cathedral, the City centre, Roman garden and River Dee. The wall stretches for over two miles.

Great place, did a treasure hunt starting at the amphitheatre. Took us to some interesting places that we might have missed just walking around.

Lovely historic city. Lots of lovely buildings and shopping centre. Beautiful Cathedral - Free Entry which is great because you can choose what to donate/purchase from gift shop (York take note!) It was VE Day & there was a service held outside the cathedral which was lovely for people passing by. Quite a few lovely places for coffee/lunches especially near the river. Had difficulty finding the musuem because it faces at a funny angle to street. Only downsides, as I have challenged mobility, is lots of steep hills/streets to climb (which not a lot can be done about) & few public toilets (which could be addressed) so had to use eateries but they were accomodating. All in all a lovely place to visit.

A truly remarkable city, lots of things to see and do.

I enjoyed my second visit to the city, exploring the city is a must. Walk around the city walls and explore all it has to offer, from historic buildings, bridges, racecourses, and lots of pubs and places to eat.I'm rating it 10/10 for places to visit in the North West.

Loved going to Chester. We went on the train which took 30 mins. It was great to walk the city walls. The Cathedral was beautiful although they wanted a Β£5 entrance fee.
