The Carlisle Tourist Information is a good place to go and get information about the surrounding area and what Carlisle has to offer.
The building itself has a unique history as it was once the town hall and municipal building in Carlisle with a small exhibit displaying that past, which was really interesting to look at.

What a great looking building, The current building was commissioned to replace an earlier 'moot hall' on the site which dated back to 1345. The new building, with commercial facilities on the ground floor and assembly rooms on the first floor, was completed in 1669. It was extended to the east with an extra section incorporating a clock tower in 1717 and to the west with an extra three-storey section in the 19th century.

Carlisle Old Town Hall home of the Tourist Information Centre. Superb amount of local information available to take away or purchase.    A good range of gifts, from maps and books to local hand poured candles available. Friendly and helpful staff present to support your enquiries. Outside you will find a replica of the first roadside pillar box in England too. Downstairs you'll find a range of coffee shops to utilise whilst deciding where to visit next.

Nice people and lots of information. From here you can take the secret city walking tour and other tours. Our guide, Allan Graham was friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. Allan is also doing private tours and I would recommend him wholeheartedly as a guide.

A beautiful location, right in the heart of town, easy to find. Used it a few days ago where the ladies there were most warm, welcoming, and helpful. The venue is well stocked with every item of info you could possibly need, as well as reasonably-priced gifts/souvenirs. Well worth any visitor popping in.

Really friendly and helpful staff with lots of ideas where to go next.
Don't struggle up the stairs, there is a lift on the site.

PS: if they tell to go to Birdoswald to get the stamp for the Hadrian's Wall Path, don't. They don't have it either.
