Went up 2 days in a row. Really wet and windy the first day, but the 2nd day was lovely. Beautiful views. Great to see the sheep and ponies grazing. Was a bit slippy in some places; rained the entire night before. Paid £5.50 for parking down in the valley. The previous day we drove up to the view point, free parking but very steep drive up and single track

Exceptionally beautiful place to visit for sure and must!
Great location. Reasonably sized car park. Parking fee is £5 for whole day.
Toilet facilities are available and located behind the cafe next to car park. They are clean and free of charge.
Social distances controlled very well.
Wheelchair accessable around the cafe area.
In the cafe you will have good selection of ice creams, which are very delicious too! Also hot or cold drinks.
Your journey will start right after the cafe.
You will have the choice to follow two different trails. One, which is leads to waterfall, is called light spout waterfall. It will take you approximately between 20 to 25 minutes.
It is not so big waterfall at the moment, but still very beautiful. You can walk up the hill from waterfall and continue your journey too!
Another trail is called shooting box.
Whichever trail you will take, you will enjoy the truly amazing views. Good exercise for legs too! 🙂 Beautiful wild life with lots of water streams.
You can spend the whole day with family and kids there. Your furry friends will love there too!
The trails in some places are challenging, but doable. Some great places for picnic too!
Will definitely be back there again!

A story-like adventure day-out.
Beautiful scenery, like out of a story book.

There are public toilets on-site and refreshments by the parking. There are also national trust employees who will give you directions to where you want to go.

Although I didn’t manage to locate the waterfall
on my first visit, I sat atop the beautiful hill, looking down, which was magical. There are sheep all around which adds to the beauty.

Definitely bring your good shoes and be prepared to walk up-hill! But I can assure you it will be 100% worth it.

£5.50 entry fee for a car due to the National Trust site, recommend to get there early otherwise struggling for parking. It's lambing season so you'll see plenty of little lambs knocking about if you're lucky!

One of the most beautiful places in England to walk. Spectacular hills and fantastic views. There are toilets in the Visitor Centre and Café. The café also has a roof terrace.

We adored this national trust park. So much open space, free roaming sheep and horses, amazing views between the valleys, a huge reservoir (which people were using the swim in), plenty of picnic spots and lakes and rivers full of wildlife.
It is very much uphill so make sure you are fit enough to do it! And wear suitable footwear!
Several huge car parks, be aware if you park at the bottom car park it is a good 15 minute walk to the start of the main walks!

We went here as a family on bank holiday Monday. On arrival, we were sent away by a National trust member of staff blocking the road to the car park, and we were instructed to park in the school car park, a ten minute walk away from the site. After walking up to the site we counted 15 or more parking spaces, so we couldn't understand why we were sent away. We think staff communication could be improved here. On arrival we used the toilet facilities only to find them very small and crowded, and in need of a good clean. Once we set off on the Waterfall walk we were able to take in the scenery and it was stunning! I adored heather and there was lots of it. The Waterfall walk consisted of uneven paths and jagged rocks with no clear steps, and it was rather challenging when you have hoards of people coming down the same path (some of these being rather rude.) On arrival at the waterfall it was crowded with people mostly taking selfies after selfies, eating lunch and generally blocking the view, so it was impossible to see or get a decent photo of it. The way down was more pleasant as we walked through the water for the most part, and it was especially refreshing for the warm weather. We will definitely return here and partake in the other walks as I think we missed out on a lot. Just to add, the ice cream from the cafe was lovely !

Fantastic place to take family too. Although there is no children play area, the river bed and surroundings will provide enough stimulus for the little ones. Parking is £4.5 for non members for whole day and free for Nat Trust members. Make sure you visit the town though!!! It is a gem of the region.
