Caol Beach is a hidden gem in this part of Scotland. It's definitely worth seeking out. The beach is surrounded by stunning mountains and the view across the water is stunning but there's another reason to visit of course, the shipwreck. It's quite surreal to see this shipwreck surrounded by the stunning mountains and it makes for quite an unusual photo opportunity. Highly recommend seeking this out. Check it out.

Managed to take a drive up a while back to see the washed up boat and got some great pics Even better inside of it if you can manage the climb up the ropes

A fantastic opportunity to see a ship wreck for sure and I took my mum there this week to show her. I’ve given it only 4 ⭐️ because you have to be sure footed to walk close to the ship as there is a tremendous amount of washed up seaweed, plastic and full size logs to name just a few at the moment and along with the fact the pebbles are also rather large my elderly mum who’s fit had a real hard job to pick her way once on the beach (Now this may be left over storm debris and the next tide may take it away but I’m only saying what it’s like now) also there is a great path along side the beach but also there is a fence as well most of the way I saw by the wreck so access points were again steep in places, full of wood and seaweed debris and generally quite a scramble. Though if you are relatively fit and a good sure footed person then you will have no difficulty in reaching close up to this wreck. I loved the experience but also had to help mum a lot for her to love it too ☺️

Caol is a village along the shore of loch linnhe. You can get here easily by a short car ride, walk, or even cycle. It's easy to teach by bus also. The bus stop is at middle street car park which is just a 5 minute walk from Fort william Train and Bus Station. The village name is pronounced cool. I got the bus and got off at coop, and the friendly bus driver told me to take the second left street, which leads you directly onto the beach it is a beautiful beach. I choose to go down onto the beach to walk along the sand and waters edge, which i find calming and peaceful to listen to.. The large body of water is the tidal sea loch, loch linnhe. On the far shore on the left is fort william, and further left, are the mountains at the head of glen nevis, and to the left of these, is ben nevis which is not only scotland but the highest in the United kingdom and British Isles. To the left of ben nevis is carn mor dearg and aonach mor, where the mountain gondola gondola is located and operated. It has good shops here in the village. They include a coop, Chinese takeaway, londis minimarket, and fish and chip shop, which was great. There are not many places in the uk that you can walk along all the sea shore, just enjoying a walk along a major canal inland waterway, while being surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the country at the same time which you can enjoy all together on this walk. I would highly recommend it it. It's a stony beach and I can imagine wasy to have accidents on when it's wet never mind when it's dry but just take your time and you'll be fine. I highly recommend here for the walk or even a cold dip, but always take care and never swim on your own. Enjoy this walk if I've inspired you. Almost forgot it also holds some historical significance as the beach is home to the popular shipwreck of the old boat of caol. This is stunning against the backdrop of the mountains and loch. It is a former fishing vessel. This was the main reason I actually visited here today. I'm so glad I did. Pictures and videos don't do it justice.

Good for a little stroll to see the boat that is washed up there. Always stunning scenery looking over Loch Linnhe and being able to look at Ben Nevis too - stunning.

Nice area for a walk along the shoreline with well maintained pathway running alongside. Great views of Ben Nevis on a clear day.
MV Dayspring shipwreck located a little way past the shinty park. Sailboat in the same area.

A lovely wee picnic with wife Alison at Caol beach - sandwich, pork pies and orange juice and Kit Kats. Walked our dogs Lucy and Abby then back to the caravan at Glen Nevis. A stunning day that judging by the locals has been respite from ‘biblical’ rain recently. Heading back and beautiful views of Ben Nevis without its head in the clouds.
