I spoke to Cairngorm Travel the day after I returned from a 6 day coach trip and discussed a complaint I had made at the reception of the Durrant House Hotel and 5 nights later to the hotels email. A manager from Cairngorm Travel said he would take up the complaint on my behalf and asked me to put my complaint in writing. It is now over 14 since I confirmed that I wanted him to go ahead and take my written complaint to the Hotel. I have not received any notification that my complaint has been put forward to the Hotel and if there response to my complaint. I requested a table lamp on 24 September so I could read in bed before going to sleep. After five nights of having to get out of bed to turn the spotlights off over my bed by a mains light switch, in the early hours, I emailed reception in frustration and was left an old lamp on the last full day of the stay. I had paid a subsidy of £210, months in advance for a double room for single occupancy and looking at the rooms on the same floor I discovered that I had been given a substandard room. The last photo enclosed is that of a similar room on the same floor.

My headboard had scratched surface decoration in the room was in poor order and the floor was never vacuumed during my entire stay.

All this could have been avoided if the Hotel and then the travel company had had the decency to speak to me at the time of making request for a bedside lamp and then complaining that I did not have one, and then when I made the complaint to the travel company being fobbed off and dismissed as not worth speaking to.
All I wanted was a good nights sleep.

Booking was easy over the phone. Steve the driver was exceptional. The Duke of Gordon Hotel was pleasant the choice of menu in the restaurant was varied with 4 courses and coffee for afterwards.
Entertainment every night and excursions every day.

Very sad to be leaving a negative review. We booked for 5 of us back in February to go on a special trip in November, arranged leave from work for 4 of us and also arranged to meet up with friends there. Received a call to say that we now couldn't go on those dates due to other tour operators wanting more spaces. So, despite the fact that we booked directly with the company that own the hotel, we are in fact not important. I find it absolutely disgraceful that we made a booking in good faith with all the arrangements that entails to be treated like we don't matter. I actually don't have the right words to convey how I am feeling right now.

We have been on this Scottish tour a number of times and it never fails to be impress, it is the best value for money Scottish break I have seen.
The hotel is typically Scottish, warm and welcoming, the staff are friendly, the food is excellent and plentiful, the trips are a bonus, always something new to see, nothing is too much trouble for the friendly coach drivers, with plenty of breaks on the journey.
If you accept that it’s a long way to Scotland and go prepared for a long coach journey, this is worth booking.

The company owned hotel (the Duke of Gordon) is in the Highlands of Scotland (Kingussie) it is a very well 3star run hotel with excellent food and amenities?

But big shout out to Steve our driver who was excellent always smiling and very helpful gave all the info needed for times for dinner / pick ups/luggage etc

Thursford Christmas Spectacular was wonderful. However, the coach broke down and we had less time to look round. Les the driver did not inform us of the itinerary times for the weekend. We were on the coach 40 minutes before he spoke to us. Too many pick ups. In reverse, we were expected to vacate the room by 08.00 to leave at 09.00 for a return journey that we're it direct would be 3 hrs 45 mins but in actual fact is going to be nearer 7¼ hours.
