There were a group of 8 of us went for dinner and it was perfect, from the staff, service, food and price it was so good.

All the food chosen was tasty and plentiful, perfect amount of time in between courses. Starters included scallops, leek & potato soup and I can't remember what else was chosen! Main meals were beef, fish & chips (fish was massive), pork fillet and chicken of 2 different types. Desserts included ice cream sundaes, toffee pavlova and cheese cakes. All the food was delicious.

Including drinks wine, beers, soft drinks, coffee and tip the bill came to £440 which we thought was very reasonable.

We will definitely be back.

The perfect location for a stay in Aberdeneshire. Welcoming staff and nice quiet location. Close to many sight seeing venues including the Peterhead Prison. Great full English breakfast. Beautiful venue for weddings and celebrations.

I arrived at the hotel on a business trip and initially had a positive impression. The gentleman at reception, Nicholas I believe, offered me a discount due to my solo travel and booking of the “suite,” which I courteously declined. However, I soon encountered difficulties locating my room and sought assistance from the same staff member, who appeared uncertain of the directions himself. Eventually, I requested that he accompany me to the room. At this juncture, I found myself increasingly dissatisfied; despite the hotel branding itself as a 4-star luxury establishment, no offer was made to assist with my luggage, leaving me to manage it alone at the base of the stairs. What frustrated me most was his sarcastic remark, “There’s a lift there,” as he continued walking ahead. Upon reaching the room, he unlocked the door and departed abruptly before I could even speak, closing the door behind him—an example of service that left much to be desired.

The room itself felt outdated, with worn crushed velvet furnishings and antiquated wooden furniture that failed to live up to the suite’s potential. That said, I did enjoy a restful night’s sleep.

The following day, I came downstairs to work and was struck by the unusual emptiness of the hotel. As the sole guest for most of the time, I found the quietness agreeable, though it carried an odd atmosphere. Another guest appeared briefly for about an hour.

The female staff member I encountered seemed pleasant enough. For dinner, I ordered cheesy croquettes, which were delightful, followed by a decent steak. However, the experience took a turn when the fire alarms sounded for an intolerable 25 minutes during my meal. I endured this for approximately 5-7 minutes, reluctant to abandon my food, but received no staff assistance. Eventually, the piercing noise drove me outside, where I observed the same female staff member laughing with someone—an action I found rather discourteous given the circumstances. Once the alarms ceased, I returned to my room. To her credit, she called to offer a replacement steak, which I declined, as the evening had already been marred.

The next morning, I was presented with an invoice that made no reference to the prior day’s disruption, nor any adjustment for the meal, until I raised the issue myself—something I shouldn’t have needed to do. The woman curtly instructed her colleague to remove the steak charge, yet the starter remained on the bill. I contested this; completing the starter before the alarm incident did not justify its inclusion, as I had paid for an overall experience that fell short of expectations. Compounding the frustration, their printer was malfunctioning, and I was advised to take an unadjusted invoice and manually amend it—an unprofessional approach that I found unacceptable.

In summary, my stay was a disappointing experience overall.

Room was dated but done the job. Not quite what I'd describe as a 4 star establishment.

Well kept hotel with friendly attentive staff.
Food was excellent, on the expensive side of reasonably priced. Drinks were expensive.
I'd definitely stay there again.

I stayed here recently as I was working in the local area. The staff here were great, so friendly and helpful. I ate breakfast here every day I stayed and everything was cooked to order and very tasty, cereals and fresh fruit were also on offer. I also had my evening meals in the grill room where again all the food was cooked fresh and to order. I tried many different dishes and desserts, all were very very tasty. I didn't take pics of all the food as I was too busy enjoying it! I felt so looked after by the staff whilst having my meals. The room I stayed in was very nice, it was large too. There was a desk with computer ports and minibar in the room. There was also a safe in the room if needed. Boddam lighthouse is only a short walk or drive away too, worth a little walk for some lovely views and fresh air
