The best things in life are free and that includes Bruton Museum.
What a surprising find revealing so much history in Bruton.
The highlight for us was finding out that the literary icon and Nobel prize winner John Steinbeck lived in Bruton for some time.
They even have his writing desk!
Well curated and welcoming.
Just looked at the website and they have some wonderful interviews, under Oral History, with people from the town. Captures the beautiful character of the town folk, past and present.

It's a fun little Museum where's fun items, like the desk the Of Mice and Men may have been written on.

Helpful and kind lady on the desk gave us a friendly, welcoming greeting.

I have now visited this museum a few times so I must have enjoyed it. I think we need to keep these little treasures running.

Nice little museum, run by friendly volunteers. It might be small, but it is full of local history and stories. Great introduction to Bruton. And so nice to chat to the volunteer lady when we visited. We stayed for an hour as we found so many interesting things.
Thank you! 😎 👍 👍 👍

A single ever changing exhibition showcasing a nice mix of Bruton history and more contemporary exhibits such as the current lock-down one. First class guides and a nice browse through Bruton and the surrounding history.

This is a kooky museum telling the story of Bruton. There are a mixture of permanent and temporary displays, some with better information than others. There's a small shop with gifts and books.

There is a very small museum in the town, but it's interesting with artifacts and information about the town going back to the Saxon times. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
