I had the pleasure of staying at Brownhill House for 5 nights in October 2024. The location is rural and picturesque, with a large, interesting garden to explore down the slope to the river, which is part of the National Garden Scheme. Roger and Yoland made me feel very welcome and offered truly old-fashioned first-class hospitality in their lovely home. The single room was spacious with a large bathroom, everything was clean, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I was even given a tasty muffin to have at the end of breakfast or to take with me every day! They also went the extra mile with recommendations for local eateries and driving routes to try and avoid the flooding at the time. I would highly recommend Brownhill House to anyone, and next time I am back in the area, it will be the first place I contact.

My wife and I stayed at Brownhill House whilst visiting a number of English Heritage sites in the area. The owners were lovely, very friendly and prepared a very good breakfast which set us up for our days. The room we stayed in was nice, comfortable and having an en suite.
There wasnt a lot to do in the village although the local pub did really nice food and the new manager was also very friendly.

My wife and I enjoyed 3nights at Brownhill House. We were warmly welcomed and our hosts were allways on hand to provide helpfull advice, which enabled us to take full advantage in exploring the area, it being our first visit. The beds were very comfortable and there was an excellent choice of locally sourced and home cooked food for breakfast. An added attraction was the amazing, quirky garden, which must be a great challege to maintain on such a steep slope. Loved looking though some o the books our hosts had written.

I had such a lovely stay in the single room at Brownhill. Needed a room for the night while visiting a friend. The room was warm and welcoming and such a good size. The en suite bathroom was incredible with a nice view and a lovely big bath. The bed was comfy with the option of an extra blanket, and the breakfast (included) was great. Friendly hosts. I will be back!

I am later writing this than intended, travel is always interesting and Brownhill House is and was a highlight. We stayed here nearly 20 years ago and determined to return one day. Brownhill is a labour of love for hosts Yoland and Roger Brown who transformed what was once a scrap metal yard into a lovely B&B with a truly beautiful, amazing and deliciously quirky garden which runs don to the river. The garden is testimony to years of knowledge, skill, plain hard work and a reflection of their travels and delicious sense of humour. Breakfasts are equally delicious with produce that is either home grown or locally sourced. Yolands knowledge of the area and Shropshire is vast and her advice regarding places to visit is well worth seeking.

Pleasant stay. I enjoyed looking around the garden. The breakfast was good and the homemade muffins were a bonus. I had the single room which was dated but comfortable. HOWEVER if you are a light sleeper be aware it is right on the road and I was woken up very early (6.30) each morning by lorries going past.

Owners were friendly, great choice of breakfast which was delicious. Owners recommended some local places to visit, best way to get to Shrewsbury, recommended a local pub for food and offer to call and make a reservation to ensure i could eat. The gardens are absolutely beautiful! If your staying here it is an absolute must you give your self an hour to walk around the gardens the steps are steep so watch your self. Was shown to my room with a tea tray, bed were cosy, everything you need was in the room. The only thing that let it down was the bathroom being dirty. There was dirty marks in the bath, lots of hair in the plug it actually put me off using the bath wasn’t a major issue as it was only a over night stay, behind the sink was thick with cob webs, that being said i dont think it would put me off returning but if i stayed for longer i would have to make sure the bath os clean at least

I stayed at this excellent b&b a couple of weeks ago with friends for 3 nights and everything was faultless. My single room was spacious and I had my own spotless bathroom Yolande and Roger are great fun, quirky and interesting. Fantastic breakfast choices (we never needed lunch!) with pancakes to die for. Yolande sent us off with muffins every day. The garden is quite wonderful and has to be seen to be believed. Will be back a.s.a.p. Maureen Edwards, Kent
