Me and my daughter came to Brindley place for the sea life centre and saw the boat as we were leaving. She loved being on the boat as did I. The price was good and they also serve alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages at really good prices. The tour itself was brilliant and very informative. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice chilled time going along the canal.

We took a cruise with these guys yesterday after walking past and seeing them the day before. What an excellent way to spend an hour up and down the canals! The guys running the tour clearly have great knowledge and passion for the canal system in Birmingham and have a great in depth knowledge of its history. Their commentary was excellent and engaging and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would gladly recommend them to anyone and everyone.

The boat itself was comfy, and there is a bar on board that is priced very reasonably. The price of the tour itself is excellent value for the quality of the tour. I don't think there's any way to book, it's just a first come first serve type thing, and they do take card!

Was on this cruise on 28th March 2025. Enjoyed it. Was only 6.50 for an hour which was great value. Cody was very knowledgeable about the history of the canals which made it better again. Would recommend this . 👍

I wanted a long boat ride and learn more about Midland canals. Birmingham has maintained its extensive canal system. It seems like several different canal companies built canals leading into the city of Birmingham though this is unclear. Parliament passed Acts that permitted extensive canal construction. At the least her majesty’s government did not hinder canal construction. If private companies paid for canal constructions which promote transportation and therefore trade then it seems centralized government planning cannot drive development that did not previously exist. We cannot expect government to drive “new economic (trade) development.” Lastly I want to correct Scott, canal boat guide, on one issue. James Brindley was not a wealthy aristocrat. Mr. Brindley was trained and worked as a millwright. He understood water wheels, wooden mill gearings, & weirs. A commoner like Mr. Brindley took his millwright knowledge and build the first West Midland canal to make money for the Duke of Bridgewater. The land and capital of the Duke of Bridgewater, a smart millwright named Brindley, and many common laborers ignited the Industrial Revolution which kick started the modern world.

GREAT - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Brilliant way to see another side of Birmingham. Guide Kodie was informative, entertaining and just lovely. As we're the other two crew on board. Super interesting and very reasonably priced. So pleased we found this thing to do and did it.

A fascinating hour seeing hearing about the history of canals in Birmingham. Chris was excellent and so enthusiastic about his subject (although slightly fast for the hard of hearing). Highly recommended!!
