My husband and I booked a tour with Jonnie while we were visiting London. We never really do guided tours when traveling but his felt a little different. Glad we did because not only is he hilarious and really friendly, but he is super knowledgeable about London and his approach is more like walking around with a friend that knows a lot of interesting facts and history of the city rather than a robotic audio guide. We would’ve booked another tour with him if we had another day available on the trip. Several of the other people on the tour were repeat guests that were raving about his other tours.

What an amazing experience! We booked a private tour for two people with Bowl Of Chalk for a 3 hour walk around the old Roman wall of London. His limitless knowledge of history and interesting and quirky facts kept us completely enthralled for the whole tour, not just about the beginning of London’s history but through to modern day history and architecture. Can’t wait to book our next tour with Bowl Of Chalk.

We did the Westminster and Whitehall tour with Jonnie — I work in this area so expected to know a lot, but I was really pleasantly surprised with how many interesting and quirky facts were packed into the tour, while still covering the major sites. Highly recommend, we’re looking forward to going on more of Jonnie’s tours!

For my son’s 14th birthday I booked a private walking tour of ‘Londinium’, guided by the incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable guide Jonnie. I have been following him on Instagram for some time and knowing my son’s excitement of everything medieval we ventured on this 2h tour. It was an exceptional experience for him and the rest of our family, that perfectly balanced humor and information at the same time. Jonnie’s extensive knowledge about the rich history and intricate details of the Great Fire of London and its significance in British history was amazing and captivating. As we moved on to explore the remnants of Londinium, Jonnie’s engaging storytelling brought ancient Roman London to life. His ability to weave historical facts with witty anecdotes made the experience both educational and thoroughly enjoyable. I would wholeheartedly recommend a walking tour with Jonnie!

Johnnie took us around st. Paul’s and its environs on a brilliant Saturday afternoon tour. He brought the area to life with incredible detail on the cathedral, its history and even the minor details you can spot along the way. Would recommend everyone either local to or holidaying in London to check it out, Looking forward to going on my next one!

This walking tour was my favourite (I’ve been on quite a few), I took my parents who absolutely loved it too. Jonnie (the guide) was brilliant, he was very knowledgeable and would elaborate on anything asked.

I would highly recommend his tours and plan to go on more in the very near future.

The route was great (around St Paul’s walk) and the two hours it took flew by as there was so much to hear and talk about.

Also price was a bargain compared to some historical walking tours I’ve been on.

My family and I spent an exquisite 3 hours strolling with Jonnie through the history packed back streets of London. His depth of knowledge and relaxed manner really made the tour a marvellous experience.

Thank you, Jonnie, for a truly magnificent and memorable experience. We will be back.

For an entertaining crash-course in lesser known London history and culture, you can't go wrong with Jonnie's Bowl of Chalk walking tours. Jonnie is an endlessly enthusiastic guide who expertly weaves fun trivia and obscure facts into his tours without ever coming across as dry or academic. He has a casual, humorous style that makes learning about London's past feel more like swapping stories with a witty friend than a stale lecture.

What's brilliant about these tours is Jonnie clearly knows how to spice up even small details about neighborhoods, streets, and buildings with amusing anecdotes and insider knowledge. So while the walk feels relaxed and spontaneous, you'll leave with a head full of cool info about London's culture, history, landmarks, and more.

Highly highly recommended!
