Had a wonderful stay at Bovey Castle. Service was impeccable. We were well looked after and our dog was treated so well.||A very dog and family friendly hotel throughout. The grounds were beautiful. We ate at the Great Western and Smiths, both wonderful with good food.||We stayed in a Grand State room, only slight issue was we were given a room with a separate living room. Would have preferred one big open plan room, they tired to accommodate but the hotel was near full capacity and there were none left.||Nevertheless the rooms were lovely and spacious, there is no AC but wasn’t bad in April.||There are lots of activities to keep the kids entertained, we did the Easter eggs hunt, the brass rubbing trail, the ferret feeding and met the falcons. The kids very were happy. We would love to return again.

We had an absolutely great time staying at Bovey Castle. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and peaceful, great for a wander round and having a relaxing time.

Our rooms were also pretty good and spacious, but my favourite place in the hotel were the sitting lounges that were both beautiful and comfortable to hang out in.

The staff were all lovely people, and some of them were fairly new. I did love the free morning visit to meet the chickens and the ferrets that they had. The lady (I apologize for forgetting your name) who showed us the animals was really great with them.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Bovey Castle. My husband and I have really enjoyed our stay, the house and grounds are stunning and the staff made us feel very welcome. We had treatments booked in the spa and would thoroughly recommend them as being very relaxing with a lovely setting and beautiful product range. The pool was lovely and warm with great views. We dined at both restaurants and there was a lovely selection to choose from, it wasn’t busy in either being midweek but there was plenty of atmosphere and we also enjoyed cocktails in the bar area. A highlight was the falconer visiting one morning, very knowledgeable and great fun. The birds were stunning and we learnt so much. Locally we visited Becky Falls, a short drive away and very scenic. Followed by Ullacombe Farm a lovely cafe and gift shop. The drive from the house goes over Dartmoor and there are several walks you can do. Amazing views as well. To sum up I would definitely recommend a stay here, it really is beautiful and the staff were also very friendly and welcoming, from reception through to dining we couldn’t fault it. A special thank you to Tamsin & Alison in the Spa, best treatments we have had in ages, we both hope to visit again very soon.

We had an overnight stay at Bovey Castle. We booked the archery which was a brilliant activity. Matt made it so much fun, whilst being very good with tutoring and instructing - thoroughly recommend it.
Each and every staff member was so welcoming, professional, friendly and attentive, Tyler in particular could not have looked after us any better.
We loved the bedrooms, beds were super comfortable, all the little luxuries added some real classiness. All the different lounges were decorated stunningly and just begged one to sit down and relax.
Can't wait to go back!

We recently stayed at Bovey Castle and had a really enjoyable experience. The location is stunning — peaceful, surrounded by Dartmoor’s natural beauty, and with plenty of space to relax and unwind.||||The hotel itself is full of character, and while it has all the charm you’d expect from a historic property, it’s also comfortable and well looked after. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a great view over the grounds.||||What stood out most during our stay, though, was the level of service. Every staff member we interacted with was helpful and polite, but we especially want to mention Mihai. He was incredibly professional, always courteous, and made a genuine effort to make sure we felt looked after without being over the top. It’s the kind of attention to detail that makes a difference.||||Overall, Bovey Castle is a great place for a quiet getaway — beautiful surroundings, a relaxed atmosphere, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do.

I loved staying here so much. The moment I walked in I was welcomed by the staff who were attentive and immensely professional and yet also made me feel like a family member. The team member who helped with my luggage getting to my room was so friendly and kind. The food is divine, the service is outstanding and the room was amazing. The turn down service arrived with an itinerary for the following day, which I found really useful. There is a significant amount of activities to do on site and I particularly loved the deer walk and spa. I had the most amazing deep tissue massage at the spa. The activities team are amazing and I really was impressed at how helpful they were when I booked a last minute deer walk. The main activities coordinator went above and beyond to make me feel welcome as I was travelling alone. The breakfast staff were absolutely lovely and the spa staff managed to fix my back. The breakfast involved the most beautiful golden eggs that are laid on site. You can even go and select your own eggs straight from the chicken house. I was also impressed with the gluten free selection. will definitely be returning to Bovey Castle. It is truly stunning and an outstanding experience from start to finish.

We have just returned from our weekend getaway and incredible visit! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. The location was breathtaking – nestled in a serene and picturesque setting that seemed almost too perfect to be real. The property and land were immaculately maintained, with meticulous attention to detail that set the tone for a fantastic stay.

Speaking of attention to detail, the service was great. Emily on the front desk greeted us with a radiant smile and a warm welcome that immediately put us at ease. Her professionalism and kindness set the standard for the rest of our visit.

The food was great - Andrew the manager made an effort to greet us both occasions in the GWR - breakfast, dinner & afternoon tea were class!

But what really made our visit stand out was the activities. We had an absolute blast clay pigeon shooting with Issac, who was not only an expert instructor but also great company. His patience and enthusiasm made the experience enjoyable and memorable for both myself and partner.

All in all, our visit was nothing short of phenomenal. We can't wait to return and experience it all again! If you're looking for a destination that combines stunning natural beauty, exceptional service, and unforgettable activities, look no further. We'll be back soon!

If I could rate it 10 I would.

I came here as a 60th birthday present for my mum, we had a wonderful stay, the room was great, had lovely treatments, the location was stunning and the staff extremely polite.

There was one reoccurring thing which kept letting it down.. the hospitality in the restaurants.
The staff were great at welcoming you in the restaurant door, but from ordering, clearing, and asking if we needed anything else it was really poor, breakfasts we waited over half an hour before asking someone to clear our plates, both days. Extra drinks and toast kept being forgotten about. For dinner we were forgotten about from the point the food was on our table, we didn't get a check back on our meal, we weren't asked if we needed more drinks, we waited half an hour before asking staff for dessert menus, someone came to clear the menus from the table without asking if we wanted dessert after specifically requesting a menu for dessert. Having worked in hospitality before it seemed that everyone did everything but no one owned anything. No one had their own section, to take orders, clear plates and own their customers. Also no one was in charge of just doing the orders or just clearing plates, the same X2 waitresses serving downstairs we also saw deliver room service. Who is looking after the customers at breakfast while they're elsewhere?
This is such an important part of the experience a customer receives it's such a shame as it really let it down.
