My friend and our children Hired a boat from here recently. And we just want to say how impressed we were with the young lads working here. Professional friendly and helped make the experience the best it could possibly be. Thank you we will definitely be back.

Oh do take a trip on the river its so relaxing and so much fun with my grandchildren ..the hire staff are really helpful looked after our little ones buggies whilst we were on the water and gave little ones life jackets ..highly recommended you go and enjoy the river ifs wildlife veiws and friendly people everyone waves as you motor past xx

Really bad service, save your money if you value life and limb!

We wanted to take a self drive motor boat from Tuckton and were prepared to pay the (rather extortionate) £40/h fees because it’s such a beautiful location. There was no mention of health and safety. We had to ask about life jackets, the disinterested youth pointed in the vague direction of some clothes hangers and said we could wear them if we want.

As soon as we got going the boat engine cut out and there was no way to restart it. We were drifting down with the current and the when eventually the staff noticed they shouted at us told us to paddle back, however there was only one tiny baby paddle for a 6 person boat so this didn’t work. Eventually we crashed into another boat nearby and had to hang on to it, not sure what local boat owners will make of this. One of the staff eventually rescued us, but he couldn’t start the boat either. Clearly maintenance has not been taking place. Eventually he towed us back to the dock. If that had happened close to the harbour we could have drifted out to sea and probably had to be rescued by the RNLI! So dangerous. We had a child with us who was very scared. So we cancelled and asked for our money back. We decided to go to go on the vintage ferry instead and got return tickets to the Quay. I asked for a discount by way of apology and with much reluctance they eventually gave us 5 pounds off. One very brief ferry ride later, we spent a couple of hours on the Quay and then wanted to use our return tickets. We waited for the timetabled ferry only to eventually be told that half of them were not running and we would have to wait for the last boat in an hour. Again no explanation or apology. Also they wouldn’t be able to guarantee a space for us because they might have already filled up with passengers at Mudeford. So we had to walk to Tuckton and didn’t get to use the return portion of the ticket. We were supposed to meet my parents at the cafe there for a coffee but by the time we got there it was 5 and it had closed.

I was really shocked at how unprofessional and downright risky the whole operation is. It seems to mostly be staffed by rude arrogant teenagers that have no interest in customer service.

Great little 9 hole mini golf available from here, next to Tuckton tea gardens. My 4 year old LOVED it!

The boats can only go 4 knots per nautical so you won't enjoy the speed that much apart from that the experience is really good
