I really enjoyed our 4 nights...in room #9.

Great service staff worked hard to make everything right...Lorna in the bar was super sweet.

Fabulous fresh made to order breakfasts...lots of choices. Try the french toast!

Small but clean comfy rooms with comfy bed, pillows and sheets.

Great shower. with handheld shower head in NEW modern bathroom...

Rooms made fresh everyday.

Active pub with live entertainment.

Zoey was the best!

Parking was not so close but free.

I did not like all the dogs everywhere...but all dogs were well behaved.

Dinner chef was very good.

I'd say STAY HERE for a nice time...

Popped in the black horse yesterday on our 1940s trip to Grassington and so glad that we did!|The staff were absolutely fabulous especially our waitress (I think she was called Amelia but brain fog at the moment and might be wrong) 😕.|She was so friendly, funny and helpful - such a pleasure to have her serving our table and a credit to the restaurant.|The food was also amazing. We all had the Swaledale sausages with mash - delicious. Followed by 2 portions of the salted caramel cheesecake which tasted gorgeous.|Would highly recommend this restaurant for a visit.

Have stayed at this hotel several times. The staff both running the hotel and serving in its restaurant are EXCELLENT. The food quality in the restaurant is superb and I can highly recommend the garlic mushroom starter - I can guarantee it is the best you will ever taste in your life.

Location is great but there is no dedicated parking. The surrounding streets are too narrow to park in, and you can only park a short time on the nearby square IF THERE IS A SPACE AVAILABLE. Access for the disabled is a little challenging, with flights of steps everywhere both to get into the building, and inside it. No ramps or lifts available but that is understandable in such an old, historic building built on a slope like this.

Where it really is let down - sorry - is the mattresses on the beds. Amongst the worst hotel beds I have ever slept in. They are so hard its like sleeping on slabs of concrete. There is no "give" in them whatsoever. You wake up constantly through the night with back pain, and in the morning you are equally wrecked for the lack of sleep. If they changed the mattresses for some that are softer, this would make a huge difference.

But overall, the service/staff, restaurant and ambience in the place make up for its bedroom shortcomings.

This hotel should have been higher than 2. It was in a great location, cosy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, when we arrived in our room we found the cleaner had left dirty towels on the bathroom floor; we did get a drink on the hotel for this, but it left us wondering how thorough the rest of the cleaning was. I found the beds and pillows were lumpy, but the main thing for me was the noise. ||There was a loud droning noise (as if someone had left the bathroom fan on) which we were told was coming from the kitchen extractor fan. We are not stay out late people and seen as the fan didn’t go off until 10.30 pm it was somewhat unpleasant. To add to this the room was hot and although we were provided with a fan, this was also very noisy ( I can usually sleep ok with fans). The alternative was to open the window, but then there was noise of people, including staff cleaning up, banging bins and shouting at each other (room 8) . We were provided ear plugs to help sleep, but I find these uncomfortable and If id have been told this at the time of booking I would not have booked.|We did mention it to reception in the morning and she did move our rooms (room 1) . Great we thought, but we were wrong … this time noise from the bar (live music, people talking/shouting and the hand drier from the toilet) also people coming up and down the stairs. To put this in prospective my sister is hearing impaired and she struggled with the noise. ||The food was average with my goats cheese burger consisting of a big lump of cheese, about 2 small mushrooms and one lettuce leaf. We chose to eat out on the second night. ||This was a deal price and I guess you get what you pay for, but for me a waring you need ear plugs is needed and then you can make a choice if to book. Other rooms might not have a problem with the noise.

Lovely pub in the centre of the village.
Well kept Ales with helpful, friendly staff and absolutely top notch food.
We had a very large GSD and they made us feel very welcome. Dog treats and towels to dry pooch.
Large dog free area so hopefully everyone's happy. Highly recommend this cracking alehouse.

We stayed last night in the Black Horse (we’ve stayed in a few places in Grassington) and we were not disappointed.
Service, friendliness and attention to detail was outstanding.
Lin (I think was her name) on Reception (and a whole load more) was fantastic.
Zoe (I think was her name behind the bar and again a whole load more) was brilliant.
I cannot recommend any more to anyone considering staying in Grassington to stay at The Black Horse - spotless rooms, great beer (which is my important thing 🤣) and a first class restaurant!
Thank you to all the staff at the Black Horse for making our short stay so special.

Lovely pub in a beautiful and scenic village. I had lasange and was tasty and delicious. My husband had kung po chicken which was stated as HOT HOT on the menu but was only mild at best, although it was very tasty. Friendly pub both staff and other drinkers as got chatting to some different people. Lovely seating area outside and dog friendly inside and out.
