A church attached to a Benedictine monastery which is a fairly modern building from the 19th century but no less beautiful than the Norman churches that surround it. Built on a hill overlooking Hereford, it’s peaceful location a perfect area for the monks and congregation. It’s gothic architecture gives you that post medieval feel and stained glass windows glow from the outside light giving the church interior an ethereal feel. It was more so on my visit as a special sermon had just finished and the lingering smoke and aroma of burning incense gave it a rather special experience. Despite its lack of age, this should be added to a visit list of churches to visit.

I have just visited this rather beautiful Abbey today .
Those eagle eyed amongst you that can see that Robin sat on the Crucifix in my picture . At the risk of sounding crazy he was a rather clever little chap . He put on quite a show for me .
He took off and flapped his wings like mad and hovered mid air right infront of me for what seemed like ages . I have seen lots of Robins in my time but never knew they could do that .
I couldn't work out if he was welcoming me or warning me off . I like to think the former but it is more than likely the latter I don't really belong in Church .
That is by the by, but I was impressed with him .
Belmont Abbey is really peaceful and quite beautiful I only by chance stumbled across it having visited Hereford . I am surprised I hadn't heard of it as I am a great fan of Augustus Welby Pugin and this Abbey was designed by his son Edward .
It was built in the Gothic Revival style started in 1857 and finished in 1875 . Now that was about 18 years well spent in my opinion . I never quite understand some of these gradings but this is Grade 11 listed .
Inside it is quite stunning with fantastic carvings and stained glass . It is a Benedictine Abbey and I actually met one of the monk's in the shop . He was very informative and welcoming .
I consider myself very fortunate to have stumbled across such a welcoming and peaceful place . I would certainly recommend a visit .

Absolutely stunning church. Visited for a rosary procession and what an amazing experience that was. Highly recommended for a spiritual treat. I am looking forward to visiting again very soon.

I visited Belmont Abbey near Hereford today and it was a most enjoyable experience.
It is a most beautiful Roman Catholic Church just outside of Hereford.
It has an Order of Benedictine Monks at the Abbey.
I went into Belmont Abbey itself and it has the most beautiful figurines/statues in the Abbey Church itself.
I am planning on attending the following Masses/Services at Belmont Abbey near Hereford:
On Thursday 31st March 2022 the Vespers religious service at 5:55pm with the Benedictine Monks at Belmont Abbey.
On Friday 1st April the Parish Mass at 10:15am.
I would recommend a visit to Belmont Catholic Abbey in Hereford.

Beautiful mass, inspiring homily, traditional, celebrated with reverence, incenses

In the end of the day, mass is mass, should not matter; however it helps to feel connected with the divine ‘easier’

Beautiful garden in the back, you can have a walk, a prayer to St Michael or Mother Mary. (You need to ask for permission though, as it is private)

It is always a prayerful and peaceful experience to go to Belmont. From my first visit in my teens with our local priest, Fr. Stephen, to my recent visit to attend the burial of my friend and parish priest, Canon William Isaac. A place of encounter with the Lord Jesus.

Lovely surroundings and Abbey.
Visited for the torchlight procession.
Could do with a few solar lights on the ground though as some places tricky to navigate. May 23

Belmont Abbey was a beautiful stop over on one of our trips during our stay in Hereford. Secluded and serene, this sanctuary creates a unique peacefulness as soon as you enter its gates. After trying a while to find, we walked in and were greeted by lovingly preserved sculpturing on the outside, as well as dead silence - upon walking in, seeing people experiencing their God felt organic and was preserved in a calm atmosphere. This meant we couldn't explore the Abbey in its entirety, but we felt as though that was actually better and less exploitative and showed the understanding and reasons for the Abbey. One thing to be wary of that isn't related to the Abbey is that as we were parked up, we saw evidence of a few car break-ins where the public parking was based, this may have just been a one off, but something to keep in mind for accessibility.
