Can't comment on the rooms as only ever used the restaurant and the pub.
New manager at tail end of 2024 has made a big difference and now a great place for a quiet drink or food. I'd advise booking especially at weekends as it gets busy. Very popular with cyclists in the summer

Hotel is really well situated, there is a path through the alleyways that gets you nearly in the centre of town, and its right by the River Runner runner boat trips if you fancy a visit to the nature reserve to see the seals. Its a building full of character, and the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. There is parking out the front but only for 5-6 cars, although the hotel gets a reduced rate for the quayside Ringo car park nearby. We thought the breakfast was really nice, with a good range of menu choices, and waiter service. Room was comfortable with TV, large bed, a decent coffee machine and lots of coffee/tea choices. Fresh milk and water was supplied. Bathroom was clean although unfortunately the tiling was cracked through bath settlement.

A cosy hotel with very friendly staff and good food. |Any place that gives you - upon arrival - a small flask of cold milk for tea/coffee in your room gets my vote. |The cooked breakfast was great and I had lunch here with colleagues too and everyone enjoyed.|My only minor quibble would be a radiator pumping out heat on a mild night and no means of turning it off.

Lovely hotel, we had a disabled adapted room which was perfectly acceptable and included coffee machine/tea/coffee, given milk and water on checking in. Had dinner in hotel restaurant- starters and mains were excellent but desserts were disappointing - poor quality and overpriced but would not put us off returning. Staff very polite and efficient.

I want to give a massive thank you to the staff of The Bell Hotel #thebellhotel in Sandwich. After a great night out with friend’s seeing Fairport Convention at St Mary's Arts Centre my friend took a nasty fall in the street outside the hotel. Not only did the staff call the ambulance, they supplied duvets and blankets and reassurance. They looked after us all, supplying tissues and drinks and staying with us throughout the 2 hour wait for the ambulance on a cold Friday evening. So a particular thanks to Alex and Justin, the hotel staff. Your kindness was truly appreciated. What was an awful situation was greatly improved by your attention and care. Once my friend was off to hospital they suppled coffee and cake to us. Thankfully my friend ‘only’ sustained a broken nose and rib and she was discharged the following day, bruised and battered but upright! Her son was staying at the hotel and also looked after above and beyond what would have been a great stay anyway. The room was spacious and comfortable.And we enjoyed a great breakfast there today! Vegan and vegetarians well catered for as well as a varied menu for all. Thank you all. You are highly recommended on all counts.

Came here for lunch and was welcomed by a fab guy called Sean. The food was amazing, the roast beef melted in the mouth. The coffee was amazing. Being Gluten-free I often struggle to find anything to eat but they catered for me wonderfully. Will definitely return and highly recommend. Many thanks.

We recently stayed at The Bell, as we were celebrating my mother in laws 80th birthday! The moment we arrived we were welcomed with lovely smiles and the our rooms were ready! Waiting for the rest of the family to arrive we went to the bar and again the staff were brilliant. There was 14 of us, including 5 children! We had dinner at the bell that evening and the food and staff were excellent! Breakfast was one of the best I had in uk hotel! The hotel is old and yes in places looks a little tired but this gives the building character and its charm! Thank you for accommodating all
