My wife and I did the Belhaven Brewery Tour last week when we were visiting Dunbar and what a fabulous experience it was. We were part of a small group of 4 one our guide was Tom who was excellent. The tour included the usual H&S briefing, a brief overview of the site, the full history and evolvement of the Belhaven Brewery (the oldest working brewery in Scotland, previously family owned for 250 years and now part of Green King), a full explanation of the brewing process followed by a tour of the Malting House (no photos allowed inside here), the rear gardens and then on to the tastings in the Monk’s Retreat bar. We were able to sample several Belhaven beers including Best, Black, 80 Shillings and a lager, followed by a pint of your own choice. Tom pulls a good point and speaks with knowledge and passion on all things related to Belhaven Brewery and the local history of Dunbar - he’s certainly an asset for promoting the brewery and its beers. There is also a shop where you can purchase beer and merchandise and if you get the opportunity, book up this tour because it’s certainly worth it - it’s officially timed at 2 hours but it can go well over that duration when you are sat in the bar 🤣 🍺 👍

What a tour! It ended up being 2.5 hours long and amazingly our tour guide Tom (who I later learned is over 80 years old) could have kept going longer. Great history that goes back at least 1000 years before the official 1719 Belhaven established date. Tour ended in their onsite pub that they hope to have open for the public beyond the tours soon. Sampled 5 beers (and by sample I mean a full pint) and they also had a cool foam printing machine anyone could upload their own photos to. Great gift shop as well. Highly recommend and you can spend a full day+ in Dunbar, all very walkable as well.

What a great tour of the brewery& it's buildings we'll worth the visit. Amazing to see & hear the history of brewery started. The smells of how beer is made wow. Our tour guide Chris was amazing, our group was full of laughs. The tasting was brilliant especially the new lager 🍺was yummy. Will definitely be back for another tour.

Brilliant day out with my folks and son, Tour guide woman was fantastic, learnt so much and the tasting was amazing!!! 100% recommended 👌 👍 🫡👏👏🍺🍻🍺 the brewery is only active Mon- Fri although tours do occur at the weekend too.

A historic Scottish Brewery & a great tour with a (pleasant) twist at the end - get your choice a image imprinted on the head of yout pint!
The beer is good and their stout challenges the market leader.
Toilet doors have images of their legacy beer varieties 😃

The tour was lovely, lots of interesting bits of history and tidbits about the brewery itself. The tour guide was a gem, offering us water and toilet brakes and being very friendly, answering all our questions, cracking a few jokes and giving local recommendations too. I would recommend other beer lovers and people interested in breweries to go 🙂 you get to 4 third pints to taste and a full pint of your choice from their beer selection. Plus you get a discount in the shop (spend £20 and get a free glass).
