Very interesting tour with explanations of workings and history as you explore different parts of the mill. Our son was very excited to get to activate the water wheel by releasing a large lever. Bought some oatcakes from the gift shop made from the floor ground here and they were great. Highly recommend a visit.

Amazing Mill that still processes Beremeal after 150 years. Great volunteer guide who shows entire process which is largely unchanged!

Brilliant hidden gem in the west mainland of Orkney. They tour is conducted by incredibly knowledgeable people and they’re more than happy to show you the machinery in operation where possible. In addition to this they also sell a few products made with the bere produced.

Was lucky enough to have a tour of the bonny mill recently, and happy to report that it was fantastic. Although short, it's packed with all the information a beremeal enthusiast could hope to get. Products are top notch too. Special thanks to our amazing guide Cullen (hope I got the name right...), who was kind enough to answer my barrage of questions during the tour. Thank you, Cullen!

Fantastic tour of Orkney's last remaining watermill. Highly recommend visiting in order to take the tour, which lasts approx. 30 minutes. They have a small shop to purchase their products and a recipe book. One of the top highlights of our visit to Orkney!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Barony Mill, the only watermill in the world dealing with bere. The young lady who showed us around was very knowledgable and a great tour guide. The mill is only open to visitors in the summer and viewings are by guided tour only (30 mins, £5pp), so it’s worth checking the website in advance for tour times, or even booking in advance. There’s a good little gift shop with various products made from bere flour/husks.
