Ballachulish is a lovely village and the Visitor Centre and Café are great. The food at the cafe is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff are very friendly too. Then we walked around the Quarry Trail (free) and looked at the effects of quarrying slate over the past 300 years. Fascinating insights. Had a wonderful time here!

Another positive vote for this lovely place. As others have said if you just pulled up outside without reading any of the reviews you would probably keep on driving, luckily we had read the reviews and what a treasure. A lovely gift shop and attached cafe. The food was fabulous. I have the creamy chicken and rice soup which was amazing although I felt it also had a bit of a Thai twist. I would go back for this soup alone. Others had the club sandwich which they couldn't finish. Portions definitely generous. Lovely staff, cosy atmosphere and you can also get takeaways. A lovely find.

Coffee machine wasn’t working but staff kindly suggested the Co-op self service coffee was very nice. Closing cafe at 4:30 seemed a bit miserable though, considering the shop was still open. Must be tricky balancing the books. Ballachulish has a lot more going for it than Glencoe village that’s for sure.
