It is a nice place, with paid and free parking as well, subject to availability. Beautiful scenery, food and ice cream. An excellent place for hikers and climbers.

This review is for the visitors centre itself.
It's the old market hall.
Look up at the ceiling to see an astounding old building.
Found right next to one of the main roads , this is a great central point for information.
Inside you have not only souvenirs, but an array of local information.
Upstairs there's an interactive map to show you places all over the Peak District worth visiting.

If you're a visitor, or even a frequent tourist, this place is the best to come for help, suggestions, ideas or even a simple map.
Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Great place to visit set in the Peak District National Park, good variety of independent shops along the famous Bakewell Pudding Shop.
Great street market every Monday, also a livestock market which is worth a visit if you have never been to one. Would recommend.

Lovely visit to Bakewell yesterday. Worth a visit or stop off if you are passing by. Many artisan shops selling the food, teas/coffees, drinks, cakes and gift items. One of our favourites we came upon by chance was a small, tucked away sandwich shop called Relish. Soooooo worth the visit. The vegan and vegetarian sandwiches and rolls are worth the visit alone.

Good to see the Tourist Information Centre still open when I visited Bakewell, Peak District in January 2024.
This beautiful Derbyshire town needs this central hub to promote the attractions of the Dark and White Peak areas and provide travel information and advice to the visiting public.

Just an update on the "Padlock" Bridge. The bridge is in need of repair (certainly quite "bouncy" now when you walk across it). In order to do this all the padlocks are being removed and not being replaced. The council have found a new home for them at Thornbridge Hall, not far away. And the Hall has an excellent cafe and outdoor play area for adults and children alike.

A wonderful site. Exceptional facilities, very clean and well set out. Brilliant views from the site, close to excellent pubs. An easy cycle to and from the Monsal trail. Farm shop on site sells their own products. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would return. Highly recommended.
