Had a positive experience using Avis, ordered vehicle online and payed online, which stated I didn’t have to pay on the day.

Unfortunately to the shock I had to pay a £300 deposit, which I wasn’t aware of until I showed up to pick the vehicle up… definitely made the week difficult with having bills to pay. Unfortunately I didn’t have a choice as I needed a vehicle as mine was in for repairs due to a mouse!

But car returned at the end of the week and the deposit repaid back to me in less that 24hrs. Had to call customer support as when I arrived to drop the vehicle off, there was no one around and hour after opening time. But they kindly walked me through where to leave the key.

**Do not use the out of hours return service**
Returned a vehicle over the bank holiday weekend and found no space available on the Avis forecourt due to other customers parking inconsiderately. Had to instead leave vehicle in unsecure car park opposite the office and reported this to Avis by telephone. Vehicle vandalised overnight. Avis now claim they have no responsibility to provide return facilities or parking spaces (yes really) and have charged £1,100 to my credit card for the damage. Will never use this company again. Have given one star because the lady in the office has been quite pleasant and zero is not an option.

Avoid! Avoid!

I Hired vehicle and paid deposit, appalling transaction process by Avis. After numorous calls spending my own time about hours to Avis i was told it takes 14 days for deposit to be paid back in my account.
I am disgusted i think the deposit scheme operated by Avis should be investigated by a professional body.
Very dissatisfied !!!!!
Enterprise pays deposit money straightaway once the vehicle is returned.

Great hiring experience, lovely staff at this location.
I hired a car for 2 weeks but the first one had some minor issue, took it to the Centre, staff promptly replaced it and offered a better car.

I hired a car for a couple of days which ended up a week from Carlisle Avis I rang up in the late morning and Car was ready for me to pick up just after lunch no problems no hassle and two lovely down to earth ladies on desk very helpful and friendly had everything sorted well done
