Didn’t know there was a castle ruin—we stopped at the bridge! There’s no pin for the stone arch bridge so I guess I will put the review for it here. If you are on your way to the castle, judging from the reviews, the bridge might be the better stop. There’s no designated parking. We just parked on the side of the road near the otter crossing sign on the south side of the Aros river. It’s an easy walk to the foot of the bridge and from there you can get a photo of both arch bridges—the new and the old. No services. No one else there. Didn’t see any otters. But the photo opp was amazing.

Very cool setting and interesting, imagining what it would have been like to live on this gorgeous point overlooking the sound.

It's good for a gander around for the views mostly.
Google takes you to the wrong road, so take the road marked in my pictures. There is a parking spot for one large vehicle or two small cars 🚗 provided by the property owners situated in front of their house 🏠 (Park properly not covering the road) you now have to walk down the side path of the house on the right, Castle is on right. 🏰

Not much left of the castle, we couldn't get any near as the ferns were huge but a nice walk to see it. If you take the lower path down the hill through the wooden gate it brings you out at a small pebble beach. If you walk along to the right of the gravel road there's a nice little bay

A pretty ruin in a beautiful location. You need to have good mobility to get to it as it can be quite muddy in places. Definitely not wheelchair accessible!

Park by house with sign and walk to lawn area in the back to the right. Feels like you are trespassing, but keep going 🙂. Open the gate and hike through tall ferns and plants to get to back side of castle. Very little left of the castle, but nice view of bay and castle walls.

Ruined castle. Parking for one car beside the holiday cottages. Proceed down road to the right of the cottages, through some chickens, and you will see the castle among a forest of bracken. There is a sort of path but vegetation is head-high. Lots of nettles. Plants thin out once you are on higher ground. Castle itself is not safe to climb on but you get a great view of the surrounding landscape.

A brilliant quick stop! This is a lovely small castle ruin which is beautifully overgrown.

Follow the signs from the main road to Aros Mains. There is a very very small parking layby with room for 2 cars (this castle is owned on private land) which is signposted on the right. We were lucky to have it to ourselves both times we visited.

Don't expect lots of information boards or upkeep - this is truly a ruin in all that it implies. But you can wander inside the small structure and get beautiful views across the coast.

It also looks fabulous from across the water on the main road.
