Lovely trip to the lighthouse today. Scenic road, saw red deer, highland cattle and a heron.
Tricky single track road but lots of passing places.
Enjoyed a coffee in the lighthouse tea room. Stunning scenery and well worth the visit.

Single track road with plenty passing places and people driving sensibly, is a wee cafe just before the lighthouse itself, sells lovely tray bakes. Can also get your inside lighthouse. Amazing views from most western mainland point of Scotland.

Great place on the far west coast of the UK mainland. The lighthouse tour is worth every penny (£10).
There is also a great cafe.

Wow is the only word to use for this place and even that's not enough
Once you get to the lighthouse, it is a fairly long way from the main road to Mallaig it's mostly narrow single track roads, the destination is absolutely worth it, just be careful drive slowly, if a faster car or motor bike comes up behind you, just pullover into a passing place and let them by, be vigilant as to what's coming towards you, look ahead be careful of the sheep and lambs at this time of year, may, they are wandering free and can and will be on the road
The scenery on the drive to the lighthouse is amazing lots of places to pull over and take it all in, this area is Scotland at its absolute best,
When you reach the lighthouse wait at the traffic light, it's a narrow single road, it does feel like it's never going to change to green but it does, don't chance it pull to the left hand side to allow other visitors that are leaving to pass you

There's 2 parking lots to choose from, the first one is next to the cafe and gift shop the other up near the lighthouse
The lighthouse tours and cafe were closed by the time I got there around 7pm, but you can still wander around the entire area just not inside the lighthouse
There's plenty of picnic tables the area is well signed, the views are beyond words, it literally feels like you are at the absolute end of the world, you get a feeling of being completely isolated
Most importantly is be aware of your surroundings take note of where the edges of the cliffs are, be careful especially if you bring dogs or children it would be easy to make a mistake that wouldn't be good

There isn't many chances in today's world to enjoy the pure sounds of nothing but nature, standing there, as the sunsets listening to the waves crash on the rocks all around you, is pure bliss, you can get up right next to the lighthouse and the massive foghorn so you can appreciate how vast it actually is and what life must have been like for the men back in the day, it must have been very lonely and isolating as there is no town anywhere near it, especially in the middle of a Scottish winter that's not very forgiving

I guarantee everyone will be completely blown away by this place, I was lucky enough to be there as the sun was setting on a warm blue-sky day, I got the feeling it would be a completely different experience but beautiful in it's own right on a day when the weather isn't as nice
Parking is free, there is signs up saying no overnight parking
There is notice boards up saying you can make a donation on your phone, no collection box that I could see, so if you can donate something no matter how small it all helps,

this place is run and taken care of by locals and your donation goes towards helping them preserve this beautiful place and please take your rubbish home or securely put it in the bins provided don't ruin the natural beauty of this place
On a side note, on the road along the way, there's a few restaurants and brewery's and a few small local shops if you need supplies,
Support the locals, I wish I was a local, this entire area is my kind of heaven
Enjoy it, you can buy tour tickets from the house thats there, its the only building so you will find it, its where the cafe, toilets and gift shop are, the toilets are only open when the cafe is open so prepare for that in advance

take your time stop along the way, there's information boards telling you about the history of the area, pointing out volcanos and the like,

as you can tell I'm in love with this area, I fell in love the second I turned onto the road, around every bend in the road is wow, after wow xx
