Absolutely amazing experience! James was an incredible host. We got to spend one-on-one time with the Highland cows — feeding them, brushing them, and just hanging out. It was such a special and memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Absolutely incredible experience. James truly loves his gorgeous animals and it shows every minute of the time you are with him and the coos. I spend a couple of weeks traveling throughout Scotland every year and this is by far the most memorable of a day by far. Can't wait to book their bed and breakfast for next year. Thank you so much for opening your farm up to us James!

Our visit to the ranch was truly unforgettable! My daughter and I had the most magical encounter with the highland coos – gentle, majestic, and full of personality. It was such a special experience that quickly became one of the top highlights of our recent trip to Scotland. The host was incredibly gracious and welcoming, making us feel right at home and sharing so much knowledge and love for these amazing animals. We left with full hearts, big smiles, and wonderful memories we’ll cherish forever. Many thanks for such a beautiful experience!

James is a wonderful host, proud of the animals and gave us a great experience with the cows and calves. We bought some steaks and mince meat from James after the visit. Cooked them last night and they were top notch quality. Worth the money.
Before you visit, best call ahead to check James can host you. He may be busy with the animals and may not be able to host. There have been some visitors turning up without calling ahead and looked around rental properties invading others privacy. To have a good experience, I suggest that call ahead to confirm it ok to visit and when. Due to bio security for the livestock, you should always follow the instructions given and never wonder in. Be careful of the horns, the cows have no spatial awareness.

Visited Aikenshill Highland Coos with my partner and can honestly say what a fantastic experience. Travelled all the way from South Wales and would certainly do it all again. The owner James was absolutely fantastic and also very funny (be prepared for some friendly banter)

One of the most unforgettable experiences of visiting Scotland was meeting over 50 Highland cows at Aitkenshill Farm. Every cow has a name and they are so well looked after. Brushing their long hair was a highlight. What an amazing experience

Love cows and 5 star service? Then this is your place. It was wonderful! We made a last minute reservation and couldn't have been more blown away. James is a fantastic host. So attentive, so passionate about his Highlands, so knowledgeable and just a great storyteller. We were given an amazing, hands-on tour with all of his 50+ herd of cows. We were able to interact with them closely but James was careful to make sure we were safe the whole time. The accommodation is SPOTLESS. The room was large and very comfortable. The lounge is perfectly situated with a crackling fire and a view of the North Sea. And the food is delicious and abundant. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Aikenshill. Do yourself a favor, and get over there.
