Liked: Wide open space with lots of views.
Plenty of space to wander without coming across a major road.

Very clean site, it still looks quite new.

The toilet blocks, with washing and dish washing facilities, seemed well looked after. I also seen staff everyday, cleaning and emptying bins.

The access to outdoor activities, such as high ropes, water assault course, and many more, also at quite a reasonable cost, if you find the right discount codes.

Disliked: The pitches were flat enough, but very close to each other, could of been 1 or 2m wider.

Showers needed temperature control, as I found them boiling, and maybe a bench to get dressed on.

We went to the shop, and it was closed. We went well within the opening hours, quite disappointed as we told the girls they could have ice creams. Luckily we didn't need essentials.

Needs a few more signs directing you were to go when you come in. Nothing mentioned at the entrance about the campsite location.

Liked: The site is in an idyllic location both easily accessible off the fast main road, but also far enough away from it to feel isolated and close to nature. The views from the pitches are entirely of countryside with the houses of Westward Ho and surrounding villages in the distance. The toilet/shower block is well maintained and has plenty of toilets and showers as well as facilities to wash up. The site is in very easy reach of Westward Ho, Bideford, and a wide range of other attractions.

Disliked: We very much got the feeling that the activity centre was a much bigger priority than the camping side of the business. On arrival cars had been allowed to park so close to the entrance to the road to the campsite that it was not possible to get our caravan down leading to a frustrating 15-20 minute wait for the staff (who were very helpful) to find the owner and move the car. Access to the site is down a very steep and pot holed gravel track that wasn't ideal for towing at all, and on arrival to the pitches we found that the pitch we'd originally been allocated (flat and electric) had been filled with a tent, and that we'd been reallocated a pitch that was down a steep slope so unsuitable for putting a caravan on. Staff were helpful in sorting out our issues, but it felt that a small amount of organisation would have prevented both of the issues that made our arrival stressful. There was a small shop on site but it felt geared towards day guests doing activities. For caravans the pitches quite sloped, the chemical waste was a dedicated toilet with no tap (so hard to clean without splashing!). There was also no dedicated grey water waste. The site felt well suited for tents but not caravans.

Liked: Site was clean and tidy. Plenty of showers and toilets for the number of people on site.
Good location for beaches and activities.

Disliked: Pitch wasn’t suitable for caravans.
Staff gave us various pitches as they had no clue that tent pitches weren’t suitable to pitch a caravan.
No handles on the shower or toilet doors so children couldn’t get out the toilets by themselves. Chemical toilet had no hose or water supply. It was next to drinking water tap. Really unhygienic to put your chemical toilet into the drinking water tap!!!

Slope/hill access to site had so many pot holes it was tricky to get a caravan up and down.

We asked about activities on site. Poor customer service she could have sold us activities there and then. Definitely a missed opportunity.

Liked: Toilet/shower facilities were very clean and cleaned daily.| Walking distance to the big sheep which was enjoyable.| High ropes activity was good and my daughter enjoyed it but they said that I had to go on with her so had to pay extra to go on myself even though when we did it there were other small children on their own.||I looked at reviews prior to our stay and didn't really understand the ones that said they did not really cater for campers but now I understand what they mean.|This is more an adventure place with camping on the side as an afterthought to make a bit extra. Although the showers etc are great and well kept, the other facilities leave a lot to be desired for campers.||Disliked: Poor communication. When we booked through Pitchup we were told pitch time of 12pm. Then the email that came through from Adventure camping stated 1pm which was not an issue. Nearer the time of booking we received another email with details and stating the pitch time of 3pm! All a little confusing so emailed Adventure camping and they stated we could pitchup at 12pm and they would investigate with pitchup.|Shop opening times were stated on a leaflet when we arrived for 10am-4pm. When we went there at 10am there was a sign outside stating opening times of 11am-2.30pm and 4.30pm-6pm. One of the days we went there at 5pm to find it closed. We asked at reception and they stated that it was closed this afternoon!| When we did find the shop open, we were a little disappointed by it. Seemed to be a gift shop which sold crisps, drinks and sweets. Was expecting more convenience items and thought they would have done well to cater for campers by selling some fresh produce, logs etc. We ran out of washing up liquid and were hoping to pick some up but they didn't sell it unfortunately and were unable to get to another shop to purchase so had to borrow from another camper. ||We walked into a large diner thinking it was the cafe at one point. Was rudely asked by a staff member if we were lost. When advised we were looking for the cafe we were redirected to another area. I believe this diner is for the corporate bookings but there is no signage to say this so thought this was quite poor.||Said there was a bar onsite but I believe this was just alcohol served in the cafe which closed early each day so a little misleading for campers if they are expecting a drink in the evening. || Communication with the activities was a little poor. We booked our activity 2 days in advance at reception. Come the day we assumed that we would meet at the activity so made our way to the high ropes. The receptionist came out to advise us that we needed to meet at the cafe so we had to go back to the cafe to wait. We met the instructors and were escorted back to the high ropes. ||We enjoyed the high ropes, although the instructors did not appear very engaged. We started on the low ropes to see how my daughter got on. They asked if she wanted to do them again but she wanted to go on the high course so we went up to the higher ones and did these twice. She then wanted to go back to the low ropes but when I asked about this the instructor told me we could'nt as there were only 2 of them doing it today. This was despite having half an hour of time left for the activity and when we booked we were told that we would have 2 hours doing whichever ones we wanted to.||Could do with a play area/park for little ones as they got a bit bored and this would have been perfect for them. Little one kept asking to go to the park. ||Was a nice peaceful stay but don't think we would stay again.

Liked: The activities - cleanliness -
Nice site with great activities which I should add that I don't think the website does justice to, particularly the assult course. It was fantastic much bigger than it looked on the website and more difficult than it looked on the website. We had an electric grass pitch. The space was huge, the ground was difficult to get pegs in places due to the rocks/stones buy wasn't overly problematic
The showers were always clean ( great work to the housekeeping team ) the showers were powerful enough and always hot sometimes a little too much for my son but fine for me the toilets again mainly always clean both the facilities are up a little hill roughly 2 minutes walk from our pitch number 3 - I think doors even ¾ height doors to the toilets or showers would have been far better. Overall a very good site. Quite commercial as they cater for schools etc and I'd say this was more of an activity centre with camping on the side

Disliked: The shower blocks toilet blocks not having any kind of door/barrier as you go in
