I did five Shinkansen seat reservations here on a Tuesday morning at 10 am, and inclusive of queuing, everything took but 10 minutes. The staff spoke flawless English, was friendly and humourous, and typed at her keyboard with lightning speed. Other than the reservations counter, this centre is beautiful and has quite a lot of travel literature too.

Travel tip 1: If you’re landing at Haneda Airport and don’t mind paying a few hundred yen to ride the Monorail and Yamanote Line, it’s better to exchange your JR passes here. Anyway, unlike this center, the counter at Haneda cannot do reservations.

Travel tip 2: It always helps a lot if you research and print out your preferred rides and seats beforehand. Indicate the train number, time, and whether you want a window or aisle seat.

Travel tip 3: They have free WiFi here.

Ms Egawa helped us a lot. Rarely experienced such a helpful assistance. Everybody else has also been really friendly, but she even took a really long time to handle a complex case for us. She stayed super friendly the whole time and really helped us substantially in organizing our travels with an amazing outcome (price efficient). Genuinely thankful!

It is a real shame that Japan goes with JR lines where employees are very very very rude at the Tokyo Station Agency (one of them screamed at me - unbelievable). It is a real shame for the entire country and nation. It was my first time taking Japanese train, and with the typhoon coming, I think it is fair to ask few basic questions like : if the train is cancelled, will I be reimbursed? Is there food to buy in the train ? But for those employees, there were not willing to answer much. I think the JR management should better pilot their employees and train them.

I am glad we purchased the 7 day pass to have transportation while we were in Japan. It’s a little costly but it’s definitely better than taxis, Uber, Didi and other options. Train is the most affordable way to go.

If you go too far or places that you have to go outside of JR pass - you will need to purchase other tickets. At least this is what we experience because this is what we were told at the booth when we asked why are passes weren’t working. But either way it’s still cheaper! It’s a little intimidating at first but once you get it - You can go anywhere! Use google maps to help!

We were able to experience the bullet train with our passes! That was very cool!!!!!

Excellent service provided by all the staff here. Manage to buy my JR east pass on the spot paying in cash less than 30mins. Queue moved fast. We were served by Yoshizawa at the counter.

Foreigners can purchase the Suica card here. Don't ask any random staff at the station, they will only say because of the lack of chips, they don't provide it anymore. However, this is not the case for foreigners. They should instruct travelers to go to the JR East Travel Center.

Very helpful with clear information for foreigners, if you are not sure about Japan's transport I would recommend stopping there to get your Suica card and information on how it works
