We had the full day tour of lake district today with English lake tours and the experience was just awesome! Our tour guide Jillian and driver Sandra were both extremely helpful and well experienced to make sure we can enjoy our trip to the fullest ! Jillian is very well versed with the history of the lake district and kept all of us engaged till the very end with her stories ! It was really a wonderful trip and I would definitely recommend them to my friends who are visiting the lake district! Thanks to both of you again !

I took part of “Eight Lakes Half Day Tour” on 23/05. It was an incredible experience. The tour guide, Tim, was super kind and helpful. We had a person with mobility issues who couldn’t get out of the vehicle when we were stopping to explore places so as we would leave a place Tim would drive off slowly so that the person who couldn’t get out could still see the scenery.
Tim brought us to some beautiful locations and knew a lot of history and interesting facts about each place. And we all had plenty of time to take in the breathtaking view and take pictures and videos.
He encouraged our group to chat and bond which made the whole experience even more fun and wholesome.
On our way back we did a little detour to Wordsworth’s house as I mentioned that I wanted to take part of that tour too but couldn’t because of time constraints. Tim very generously told us about Wordsworth and his life in Grasmere.
Overall this has been an amazing experience that I would definitely recommend.
A big thank you to Tim for being so awesome!!

10 lake day tour. WOW! Fabulous tour with the two best guides in the area. Gillian is incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and helpful. Sandra was a superb driver calmly negotiating some tricky roads. Together they were amusing and entertaining. The tour itself was a brilliant way of seeing the area if you have never been before. It means we need to come back!

What a wonderful day! I went on the full day Brontë tour which was led by two amazing, knowledgeable women Sandra and Gillian. They delivered the information with such energy and enthusiasm and actively encouraged open conversation and questions. I was rather nervous going as I had never been on a guided tour of this length before and was on my own so was anxious about feeling like a spare part amongst groups of friends and partners. I need not have worried as I felt confident and comfortable from the get go and was able to ask any questions I had and always received a thorough answer. The stopping places were well planned and varied from the obvious to the obscure. Each brought a wealth of knowledge, fun facts and I also learnt a lot about the historical context and the landscape itself. A fantastic experience and I will definitely be booking another tour soon! Thank you so much Sandra and Gillian! Real value for money!

The booking process through Tinggly was easy, but communication with the tour company lacked warmth. Our original tour was canceled due to staff illness, and we faced some difficulties with rebooking, creating uncertainty at the start of our holiday. The 4-hour itinerary covered significant highlights, such as the Gingerbread Shop, Derwentwater Viewpoint, Ashness Bridge, Castlerigg Stone Circle, and Ullswater Pier, although more photo stops would have been appreciated.

We traveled in a modern, comfortable Hyundai H-1 van, suitable for the Lake District's narrow roads. Our group of four, including an English couple, had a pleasant journey, but hearing the guide clearly was sometimes challenging for me. Tim, our driver/guide, was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing insights into the area's history, geology, and conservation efforts. Despite being an experienced driver, Tim’s driving style could have been gentler for added comfort.

Tim discussed sustainability efforts, such as transitioning to electric vehicles and conservation initiatives like protecting red squirrels. He also encouraged supporting local businesses, which added to the authenticity of the experience. Overall, it was an informative and enjoyable tour, though communication and booking processes could be improved.

We had the most wonderful experience. Our guides Jillian and Sandra were marvelous and knowledgeable. The tour limits the number of passengers to 6 which makes the tour very personable and enjoyable. We could not have done or had so much fun on our own. Thank You English Lake Tours.

What a tremendous day! We love ACGAS and dreamed of seeing the places it’s been filmed. We saw Pumphrey Manor; the crossroads where James first arrived and meets Helen; the church where Helen calls it off with Hugh; the bridge where James and Hugh struggle to decide who will back up and let the other through; the main town used for Darrowby (including the front Skeldale house, the Drovers Arms, the green grocers); the village green where James meets the bus when his parents arrive for the wedding;the Falcon Inn, where his parents stay; the back of Skeldale house; the exterior and interior of the churches used for James and Helen’s wedding; and the Alderson’s farm; and had a delightful lunch at the pub used for one of the interiors of the Drovers Arms.

It was truly a delightful way to see the Yorkshire Dales come alive through and outside of the lens of the show!

Our guide, Tim, was excellent! He has really taken the time to study up on the show and the real-life James Herriot (Alf White), enjoys the show as much as his guests, and was just a delight to spend the day with asking about the Dales then and now. The pace was leisurely and he let us take as many pictures was we wanted and explore as long as we wanted (obviously keeping us to the schedule). At each stop, he also showed us scenes where the location was used, indicating directions and things to notice about the scene and the reality. He also spent time telling us about the history of a place or other unique characteristics of the places we visited.

It was just the best day! We loved it and would recommend the tour to anyone who is a fan of the show or just wants to see the Dales in a unique way.

We had a wonderful tour of the lakes with Tim, our host from English Lake Tours. He was very knowledgeable about everything in the lake district. Great commentary and history of the lakes. Tim also ensured the vehicle was clean and tidy. Very polite and excellent tour guide. We highly recommend this tour.
