We rented two canoes for a boys weekend - LBCH were really helpful with timings, places to stop, flexible when we were early/late etc. Was a great weekend!

Still scratching my head about the perplexing start to this trip. Upon arriving at the venue to sign in our party was directed to a cafe on site to do this over the counter amid people trying to order breakfast. The staff couldn't find our booking initially so I showed them the confirmation email, which was clearly branded and carrying all the address and phone details etc. Despite this, the staff told us we were in the wrong place and had to walk to another venue over the river bridge.
The other venue turned out to be a completely unrelated competitor who obviously had no idea why we were sent there.
I phoned Ultimate multiple times before getting though to the same staff who apologised for "the mixup" and told us to come back.
Walking our party of 12 all the way back again to the same cafe, competing with diners and now behind schedule, we tried to sign in a second time. The staff still had no record of our booking (again, despite an email chain and confirmation) but decided to take us on, though attempted to charge us almost double what was owed. I put that straight immediately.

Generally just a bit chaotic and disorganised. The briefing to use the equipment was pretty lax, the waterproof barrels we were told were part of the fee were absent, but once out on the water it was an enjoyable experience.

I've now done 4 trips on the river wye. This hire was a disgrace. All other canoe hire companies we used were professional and delivered. This place/guy let us down with timings, gear, agreed prices, couldn't even arrange pick up from our hotel. We had to cart our gear across town 15mins away for some random taxi bus to pick us up (which then drove past our hotel towards drop off).
One word disorganised!
He even forgot one of the kayaks we booked, and didn't have enough barrels for the trip. My friend slept in a wet sleeping bag for 3 nights.
Use a different canoe hire place, plenty available.

Super time on the river. We had a large group of children with us and Rob and his team looked after us very well.
