I had been waiting to take an Adderley tour for several years, and finally, after resolution of COVID and personal health issues, was able to visit Cumbria and Northumbria with Tim in June 2024. Everything was so well organized and the venues were thoughtfully selected. The accommodations chosen for us were top-notch and well-situated, the food was plentiful and delicious, and Tim's mini-van was comfortable for long-distance travel. Tim is always focused on providing the best possible experience for his customers (like traveling back to the previous venue to rescue my forgotten cell phone while we toured the next garden)! I look forward to taking another Adderley tour in the future!

Our recent garden tour of the Cotswolds & Oxford with Adderley Travel was delightful. The Inn where we stayed was lovely, each day was full of amazing gardens and other interesting sites. Our tour director, Timothy Ray, was extremely knowledgeable, has a great personality and made us feel safe, pampered and comfortable. At several of the gardens we were given tours by the head gardeners or the owners themselves which added so much to the experience. I cannot say which garden was my favorite but having a degree in Landscape Architecture I was thrilled to walk through and photograph Hidcote Manor, Kiftsgate Court, the exotic Sezincote and Rousham House. We also spent a lovely day touring private gardens courtesy of the National Garden Scheme in one small town. I was very impressed at how intensely each one showed the dedication of the homeowners to create garden spaces as extensions of their homes and personalities. We hope to travel with Adderley Travel in the future. A few of my photos are shown below.

There are no words to adequately express the quality of our trip to Yorkshire and the Lake District. Every aspect of our tour was well planned and executed; the accommodations and food were superb. The scenery and gardens were breathtaking. Tim is a wealth of knowledge and answered our incessant questions about culture and history and did so with patience! I can't recommend Adderley enough. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

Words cannot express my satisfaction with the Orkney garden tour this July with Adderley Travel. The combination of small group, excellent management, and exceptional hotel and restaurant choices makes for a winner! Tim not only knows the people and places we visited, but he also gives unsurpassed support to the needs/wishes of each client. The pace felt relaxed, but it’s clear that Tim’s skills and experience allow for such smooth sailing! I hope to join another tour with Adderley soon.

Tim provided us with a well rounded tour of East Anglia with visits to both gardens and sights of local interest. He picked two beautiful first class accommodations for us and made a huge effort to keep us all happy during the entire time. The gardens we visited were all fascinating and beautiful, I’m still floating on the memory of scented roses, colorful borders and Beth Chatto’s water and dry gardens!

Adderley Travel does the most superb small group tours. Personable, well curated experiences including the lovely hotels and dining choices, some larger castles and gardens but many other small private gardens that he has developed relationships with over the years. And some that this was the first year for that were stunning. A wonderful mix of the Neolithic in Orkney and time on the High Street in Kirkwall. Tim makes it a point to get to know his travel group, and friendships are made during this week of immersive travel. This was the fourth tour I’ve been on in 6 years, and I’m already making plans for the Hebrides next year! I’d give this group 10 stars!!

I had a wonderful journey to the north of Scotland and the Orkneys. A perfect mix of history, nature and culture. Good food, good company and visits not only to great public gardens, but also to brilliant private ones.

Traveling with Adderley is always a pleasure. Tim knows how to blend historic sites and information with a vareity of gardens to satisfy a wide range of interests. Northumbria and Cumbria was my fifth journey with Adderley. My mobility was somewhat compromised by an injured hip muscle; but Tim made everything possible. I have found that the oher people who travel with Adderley are congenial and like-minded which makes the experience a journey with friends.
