I love this little nature reserve. It's always a pleasure to walk around and see what nature I can spot. Normally in Autum, it's good for fungi, but I visited in May today and the irises are just about to flower in the meadow. There was also lots of stitchwort flowering and quite a few moths fluttering about. If you go when it's been raining, wellies are almost certainly needed so bare that in mind if you plan on visiting.

Never knew something so beautiful was right on our doorstep! Despite being close to a few main roads, it is soo quiet and tranquil! Watching the butterflies playing together amongst the flowers and the small family of cows grazing in the sunshine was just magical!

Our first time visiting during Easter school holidays, seemed to be lots of different paths and plenty of exploring to do, there is no car park though so you'll have to find a nearby road to park on and walk to one of the entrances. Other than that it seems like a decent area for a walk so I'm sure we'll be back again sometime 🙂

Escape to nature in Hocombe Mead only a few steps from the main Hiltonnbury Road and immerse yourself in woodlands marshlands and rolling banks. In summer time there are even friendly cattle in the far meadow, you wouldn't believe you are so close to a major conurbation.
