The place looks absolutely lovely, with a neat and well-maintained interior that creates a welcoming atmosphere. The ambiance is warm and inviting, enhanced by soft lighting and tasteful decor. All the staff members are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and highly competent, ensuring a pleasant experience. Since our arrival, we were promptly greeted and offered drinks, demonstrating their attentive service. We ordered the signature pie, called ‘Best Ever Pub Pie,’ which truly lived up to its name — it was the most delicious, flavorful, and well-crafted pie I've ever tasted. I highly recommend this charming pub and its excellent restaurant to anyone looking for a delightful culinary experience.

Chaotic from the start. Despite our reservation, we were met with a rude manager who directed us to a tiny, cramped table by the entrance. We had our dog with us, but there was barely enough room for him. Luckily, the group next to us left, so we moved to their larger table. The manager then told us we only had the table until 4:15 PM, contradicting our email confirmation for 4:30 PM. We felt rushed and had barely any time to eat.
Our waitress was friendly, but a conversation overheard at the bar between the manager and a staff member was concerning. The manager insisted they continue serving Pepsi even though it was confirmed to be flat, which showed a disregard for customers.
The food came out suspiciously fast. I ordered a steak pie, and my wife had a Sunday roast. Everything was cold except for the pie and gravy. My wife's meat was thin and anaemic, and the small amount of vegetables were shrivelled and cold. The meal was clearly microwaved, not fresh, and cost £34.
When our waitress checked on us 15-20 minutes later, she saw our plates were still half full. We voiced our dissatisfaction, and she apologized. The manager then offered us a choice of a free dessert or a discount. We chose the latter and were given a 20% discount.
Overall, the pub failed to meet our expectations. The website gave the impression of a traditional country pub with home-cooked food, but it felt more like a grotty, dirty canteen. This was one of the worst dining experiences we've had. We had a much better experience at another country pub just outside Castleton on the way home.
Avoid the Wheatsheaf like the plague.

An impromptu visit after work on a sunny afternoon. Easy to park and a lovely pub inside and out with a relaxed atmosphere. We sat in the beer garden which is beautiful, spacious, loads of tables to choose from with parasols. Super easy to order on the app. Really friendly attentive staff - the customer service was excellent from everyone we encountered, special mention to the chap who greeted us on arrival, explained the set up, and also tried his best to fend off a wasp that was trying to join us for dinner! The food was delicious, piping hot, and arrived very quickly. Many thanks for a lovely experience, I’m looking forward to returning!

We were a walk in on a busy Thursday night in September. We were warmly greeted by Izzy, and superbly looked after by her. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. I would certainly return next time I’m in the area.

Difficult to know what to say. This combines two meals over two dates in the same week. To be absolutely fair, the people in our group who had pies were delighted. The mixed grill was good. One of the steaks was OK. But the other steak was ordered medium and came out very well done, very tough, and half of it (not joking) was inedible fat and gristle in the middle of the steak. When we explained the problem to the manager, he told us there was nothing they can do about the quality of the steak as they can only serve what they get in the delivery. He deducted the cost of the meal, though. One meal, lovely table in the dining area with fabulous serving staff. The next meal, put in the dogs and owners area (no dog with us) and left to fend for ourselves.
I think there needs to be an understanding that if a cut of meat is inedible, and that's all you have, you don't serve it, but explain that the person will have to choose something else.
So, mixed review. You may be lucky, and there's nice staff.

Quite nice food & the service was very fast, our drinks and food came out at the same time. Tables are a little cramped together which caused a bit of awkwardness when trying to get out, meant others had to move, not ideal.

Very dog friendly, they have treats and even a dog menu.

Dog friendly pub with beer garden and children's play area. Food is mediocre pub grub. Plenty of parking. Very busy on a Friday tea time. Great doggy menu and free dog treats as you walk in and dog bowl. Floor needed a good hoover from food and straws and decor tatty but would go back as it was the perfect place for a quick pub tea before a walk. Food wait wasn't long at all, waitress was friendly.

The staff here are amazing - especially Izzy and Lily. The food was fab! We had the trio of roasts and the Pork roast. The pork was slightly dry but with gravy was great. Large portions and good value for money. Very quick service. Highly recommend!
