I attended the 24H of Barcelona workshop with Trackside Focus (formerly The Photographic Adventure Company) in September of 2024 and it was amazing. Both Greg and Mike were incredibly insightful and helpful. Everything once we landed in Barcelona was flawless (even recovering my phone that I left in the taxi). The access, insight and tuition were excellent, and I highly recommend booking a trip with Greg and the team, I cannot give enough credit to the excellent product that they have put together.

TL:DR: (Didn't even realized I wrote a whole blog but credit is where credit is due!) I booked it, loved it and kept working on being a motorsport photographer! Worth the time and money if you love cars like I do.

I rarely write reviews but here we go: I first came across Trackside focus (it was under another name at that time) while doom scrolling on instagram while relaxing from work. It was stating that it was motorsport photography workshop and it was media accredited which of course got my attention. I have been doing all kinds of photography as a hobbyist since roughy about 15 years ago (I'm 33 this year in case if you are wondering) but never have I ever touched car/motorsport photography until early 2023. Pretty shameful as a photo guy that loves cars if you ask me. So I kept attending to as much events as I can and shooting spectator side/grandstand which we all know has its limitation such as not being eye leveled to the car and you are looking down on a car with a huge fence in between to keeps you safe. That was the reason why the media accredited caught my attention.

Fast forward back to 2024 Nov, I consulted with my fiance (DISCLAIMER TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT SINGLE. VERY IMPORTANT STEP BY THE WAY.. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SKIP) I was showing signs of early stages of mid life crisis where I would like to attempt to change my career and would like to pursue to become a Motorsport Photographer. She was extremely supportive of it (thank god :P) and I decided to book the 24H Dubai Endurance race at the Dubai Autodrome not knowing what to expect, not knowing if it will get me to my goal closer and flying half way across the globe to somewhere I have never been before. Although I have plenty of traveling to foreign country experience, I cant say I'm not nervous for this trip.

As time got closer, Greg (the owner) started giving more information to the trip, organized the airport pick up, started introducing us to our workshop leader, Mike, which we will talk more about in just a second. I arrived 2 nights earlier since I wanted to adjust my jetlag and explore Dubai a little bit and most importantly get a gift for my other half (very important step..) Mike introduced us to some places to explore over text and also informed us that there will be an optional race car parade to start off the season. Of course we all went but it was honestly too chaotic to meet up or to do any artsy photography cause there were just too many people. We met up officially the next morning and moved over the track from the hotel and the rest was history. I will let my pictures (there were so many keepers and I can only show a selection) do the talking cause the event was 5 days short (time went by sooo quick) and I just remembered that I learned a lot.

Lets talk about the crew for a second here:
Greg, The owner - Extremely nice guy and extremely passionate about his business. He was very detailed oriented and kept making sure I was doing good during the whole trip. He honestly was more of a friend than the owner of the business to us. ALSO one more thing about Greg.. he might look like a guy that just works out of his Ipad and carries a phone around, but please do not be fooled. That man somehow took some amazing photos with his phone and make my 60mp camera look like an entry level camera. Goes to show that its not all about the gear sometimes. You just got to know your stuff!

Mike, workshop leader - Super wonderful to work with and extremely knowledgable on his craft. He sees thing that even some of the local photographers doesn't see such as interesting lighting and interesting angles that you would never think of. He doesn't gate keep anything and made sure that I was soaking in as much as I can since I was aiming to be a motorsport photographer just like him. I have learned so much from him during the whole workshop and will continue to apply the techniques that Mike taught me to my other events.

My wife and I took part in a residential photography workshop on Anglesey in April 2024.
It was well a organised weekend with a good itinerary that helped us to make the most of our time on the island. The value of such workshops is in making sure that you are in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the conditions. Greg handled the logistics of the workshop while Gareth provided technical and creative support on the photography side.
It is always hard to get the balance right when providing support to a group of photographers with mixed levels of experience. But Gareth was always on hand when needed for those with less experience and happy to let those with more experience get on with it.
It was an enjoyable and successful weekend. The follow up session online that enabled us to share some of our images was particularly appreciated.

Thanks so much to Greg for capturing our Snowdonia (Eryri) adventure on behalf of Rethink Mental Illness. Greg is professional, approachable, enthusiastic and a pleasure to work with. From the initial planning discussion Greg understood what was needed from a photography side and was very versatile in making it happen. He quickly built a great relationship with the event participants who were from all walks of life, to capture epic and emotive images of this multi activity adventure. Having only been to a live motorsport race once and this being the first time trying to capture some images, going with The Photographic Adventure Company was the best decision! As everything from the communication before, during and after were great from Greg and Dan.

The British GT weekend working with Dan was just amazing his knowledge and encouragement was just what i needed, as its easy to try and capture the same type of images as everyone else but Dan was a great help on suggesting classic motorsport shots but also making sure you as a photographer put your own style and trust your eye to capture what you see.

I'll be definitely looking to do more workshop in the future!

Fantastic photography holiday in Snowdonia with TPAC. Greg's attention to detail is amazing, really making the holiday top notch. The hotel we stayed in was incredibly comfortable with fantastic food. Greg and Helen were both so knowledgable and took us to wonderful locations for photographic opportunities and took in to account the weather each day and planned accordingly while also making sure the group were happy with proposed plans. I definitely learned so much from their guidance and cannot wait to book on to another holiday with you. Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant workshop from TPAC. The attention to detail from Greg was beyond all expectation. From the location, accommodation, itinerary and even the small touches that made a world of difference to the experience. Communication was excellent from booking all the way through to the workshop itself, making sure I knew exactly what I would need and felt comfortable throughout.
Add to that the expert guidance from Gareth Mon Jones I throughly enjoyed the experience and left with not only great images but memories as well. Highly recommended!

Had a fantastic five day photography course in North Wales. Both the course content and hotel was first class. The overall experience was great. Would definitely recommend to photographers of all levels wanting to learn new skills in spectacular settings.
