Certainly worth the visit to this massive Castle. So full of history. Walking along the battlements and up narrow spiral tower stairs, you can almost feel what it must have been like living in, and defending the place. Fantastic.

Arrived in time for 3 pm guided tour with SUE. On arrival my hopes were low as the castle is a (substantive) ruin. From first words Sue brought it to life!!! My imagination was taken back to the real life experiences of defending the gate, the hustle and bustle and noise of castle life, and the incredible characters loomed large in front of me. Sue delivered a fact packed, humour tinged wealth of information. I could have listened to her all day. I learned a felt more connected to this ancient ‘ruin’ than ever before. Exploring after the tour was made relevant and exciting. So much to see. So many nooks and crannies, stairs, rooms and walkways. The views stunning. The scale of this Castle and Keep will loom large in my memory.

A beautiful well preserved castle, well worth a visit. It's cafe does an amazing cheese and onion toastie with side salad for £8. Toilets are clean and nicely kept and a great day out for £11.50, £10 for pensioners

Beautiful castle to visit on a sunny day. Very informative and interesting to walk around. There were tours and shows going on around the grounds. Food and drink was cheaper than we expected!
The gift shop is worth a visit too and you can find out the origins of your surname.

Well you've just got to go. Such and impressive building. Plenty of places to investigate up stairs downstairs checkout the man in the dungeon. Go high to look down on the massive ground map. The free guides around different areas with impressive and funny stories which were good for the kids also. Cafes great nice food. TOO GOOD TO MISS!

Awesome. Good visit. No queue. Enjoyed the castle. Carers go free. Granddaughter loved the Knight school, this is free. So did all the adults. Very good fun lasted about 50 min. Cafe does nice cake, good coffee and some hot meals were seen. Really nice staff in the Gift Shop. Very pleasurable visit.

Lovely afternoon out in the summer holidays. Activities for the children and a free tour around the castle. Food and drink available and toilets on site. Suitable for dogs apart from going down steep spiral staircases.

I love a castle, and if that castle has Tudor connections then all the good.

You don’t get a better Tudor connection than the Birthplace of Henry Vii and the very start of the Tudor Dynasty.

The castle itself is the best ‘ruin’ that I’ve been to (and I’ve visited lots!), you can walk within the walls!
They also provided a FREE hour long tour which was brilliant (thank you Allan) and very informative. (Did you know that The Normans were originally vikings? I do now!)

The little cafe was great, I had the best caramel flapjack of my life!

We spent almost 4 hours there and loved every minute.

The last 30 minutes was spent in the Heraldry centre in the gift shop, I HIGHLY recommend doing this.
My maiden name is unusual and I’ve never seen it before, the lady there (I forgot her name, sorry) was brilliant and the information she gave me was very interesting. I even purchased the coat of arms! (£24.99 for an A3 size with all of the information)

I had an absolutely brilliant day.

The tour itself was wheelchair accessible which was excellent but obviously if you want to go into the castle and up the towers you need to be able to walk.
The stairs are treacherous but thankfully I was having a good ability and pain day so I did manage it with lots of time and help. (Wear good shoes!)
