We really enjoyed our visit here. As members there was no entrance fee, but even if we were paying the entrance fees due a family of 3 was really reasonable.
The castle ans grounds are really well looked after and there is a lot of interesting things to see inside the castle.
It is definitely worth walking to the old castle ruins just a 5 minute walk behind the main castle.
It is a great place to take a picnic and there is also a really nice park for the kids too tuckered away.

Fabulous little castle, really interesting place with loads of history. Only a short journey from Dumfries. We didn't have to book ahead of time and were able to park easily. They also have a great little shop and small cafe. Lots of places to have a picnic and the area is great for dogs, with some nice paths and walks

A castle with plenty of history, definitely worth a visit, open all year. Some areas were closed due to conservation work, but that does not spoil visit. Loads to see. We was lucky enough to have a sunny day for our visit.

Cool castle in partial ruins. The guides were super knowledgeable and were willing to answer all the questions I had about its history. I recommend also taking a walk down the path to the left to see the foundations of the very first castle. It can be slippery when wet.

Picturesque castle with a water filled moat. Small castle, but well worth a visit. Gift Shop, coffee machine and toilets (which were out of action on the day of our visit. £6.80 entrance £5 for those eligible for consessions. Dog friendly.

Castle ruins just outside Dumfries. The prices are reasonable and the staff were courteous and knowledgeable. There is a free car park for patrons. Toilets and a small refreshments cafe are available on site. The main Toilets were out of action when we visited, but they had portaloos around the back of the gift shop for customers use.

Fantastic big castle with forest walks. The main structure is large and grand and fun to explore, complete with a moat and a family of swans. The 'old' ruins are a short walk behind this. Staff were very helpful and friendly and tickets were reasonably priced. Not a huge amount of parking though and a couple of larger motorhomes parked further away as they couldn't fit through the arch at the entrance.

A beautiful castle with a moat that’s actually still filled with water. Got very lucky to visit in a beautiful day and our son enjoyed the play park while we relaxed on the grass. Road leading to it has bad pot holes so be careful. Staff are welcoming. Has a small shop with refreshments and a toilet.
