We booked Golden Cabin no 51 for a short break with family. It was clean and spacious enough for 6 adults and a baby. We cooked on the BBQ and it was lovely sitting out on the decking eating together.|We had a lovely location with a path into the forest right next to us. The hot tub was private and not overlooked.|One of the nice things was the friendly and helpful staff. Someone popped round on our arrival to check everything was ok. We’d asked for a high chair but it had not arrived. Within 10 minutes, the lady had arranged for one to be dropped off. It’s also really nice when staff say hello when you pass them.|The beds are sooooo comfy. We tried to book again but couldn’t get a dog free cabin (this is very important!) on the dates we wanted so we’d booked Cropton for a winter break. Hoping it’s as good!!!

Arrived for the early check-in, and we were greeted by a lovely lady. Our cabin was amazing. We looked out on a beautiful view, and no one was in front of our decking area. It was lovely and clean and peaceful, well kept and not run down like other people have said previously. ||We had a nest of swallows in the roof of the cabin and it was lovely to watch them flying in and out the nest, we had daily visits from the local farm/stray cats which my kids loved 😍. ||We went to the quiz, which was great fun and a giggle. All the staff were so lovely and friendly. They were genuinely interested in the guests. ||The water level dropped in the hot tub, gave them a call, and almost instantly, someone came to sort it. ||Lots of walks and activities to take part in. We just came to relax and unwind, only took part in the rifle shooting, which was good. ||Would come again. Nice to do trips to Pickering, Whitby, and Scarborough.

Great place to come and stay on your own or with family. It is very easy to get your keys to the lodge, greeted by very nice staff who explained everything to us. We have a nice walkout and about around the area, but there is lots more to see as yet.
Just sitting in the Lodge and allowing the wildlife to visit, is relaxing.
We were given the activities planned while we are on our stay here, lots to do for everyone. The quiz is great fun too.
If you've forgotten something, there is a shop on site which you can get easily.
Used the logs from the shop to have a fire in the Lodge, lovely and warm. Hot tub is very nice too.

We stayed in the disabled cabin and found it to be well equipped, spacious and clean. Our dogs were secure on the deck and we loved the hot tub, the hoist making it easy for me to get in and out. The maintenance crew who checked the hot tub daily were all polite and friendly as were all the other staff. Walks around the area were beautiful and the one we took was well marked out and accessible!|Only one niggle - the water pressure in the shower is poor making me glad that I had had my hair cut short before our holiday as it would have taken ages to rinse when it was longer!

We love going to Keldy. The forest retreat is great. We did the quiz night, the kids did lots of cycling and a zip wire activity. Its also a good base for visiting Whitby, Robins Hood Bay and Scarborough. The Keldy forest has lots of trails. The breakfast in the retreat was delicious.

Having been to a couple of other forest holiday sites, we were looking forward to our first time in Yorkshire. Unfortunately it’s a little disappointing. Let’s start with the good:||Positives:|The cabin itself is nicely positioned (no. 54). We’re not really facing anyone to a degree that makes it invasive. The windows facing onto the decking create masses of light and the high ceiling gives it an airy open feel. The furnishings are soft and comfortable and the hot tub, table and bbq are nice and clean. The kitchen is nicely laid out with dishwasher, cooker, fridge and microwave, plus Nespresso coffee machine (bring your own pods). There is a log burner, but we’ve not used if.||Negatives:|The biggest negative is the lack of practically placed plug points. There are none by the beds, so your phone chargers etc need to be placed across the other side of the bedroom. Again, in the lounge, the plug points are not in great places for use when charging phones etc. The shower in the upstairs bedroom really lacked pressure and kept going from hot to cold. The downstairs one however was much better, so we trekked up and down the stairs each time. There are no side tables in the lounge so you’ve got to put drinks, books etc on the floor. Fridge is way too small and the door can’t hold bottles without them falling out. So many light switches that don’t seem to switch anything on or off. Be prepared for flies everywhere in summer.
